Armenian high tech startups show off their wares

When I visited Armenia last week, I went to the second city, Gyumri, where there’s a interesting outfit called Gtech which plays host to several leading edge companies.

The first of these companies we talked to is called Renderforest. It is an online video production platform which lets people create broadcast quality videos for both private and business use. The site is free unless you want to download the video in HD.

The company claims that the page offers a big range of special effects and can render broadcast quality videos in less than 10 minutes. Renderforest, which you can find here, attracts over 9,000 users a day and and derives its revenues from download sales with the main markets being the US, the UK, Europe and Brazil.

Skyline Studio is a digital art package and offers 2D and 3D animation. Features include motion design, hand drawn sketches, fly through animations and technical presentations.

SkyCryptor is a way of protecting files both in Dropbox and Google using military grade AES-256 encryption. Features include client side encryption, end to end secured collaboration and encrypted search. You can find its website at http://www.skycryptor.com.

Seven Smarts at www.7smarts.com develops mobile applications whether using Android, iOS and Windows. It has a product called www.TheLocalz.co which specialises in creating guides to places for tourists – it’s created over 50 tours so far.

Digital Pomegranate  is a service provider which specialises in mobile app development, web development using Livecode, and also offers a range of graphics services including video design, graphic design and animation.

Annaniks develops online and offline gaming software and has created The secret of Six, a Facebook game which the company claims has over a million users.

Gtech itself, which is run by Amalya Yeghohan (pictured), acts as a hub and host for these and more companies and offers PR and sales, marketing support, project documentation, search engine optimization and search engine marketing.
