Surface look alikes doing well apparently

Lenovo unveiled its Miix 510 2-in-1 device at IFA 2016, which looked rather like Microsoft’s Surface line of devices.

Now the dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured a hell on earth yarn which claims Lenovo is working on a successor to the 510 innovatively called the Miix 520.

Again it is similar to Microsoft’s Surface line in terms of design, and appears to be a premium high-end machine.

According to the German website WinFuture, the 520 will feature a kickstand, an optional keyboard, and an active stylus with Wacom technology as well. The display of the 520 is purported to be 12.3-inches with a resolution of 1920×1200, slightly larger than the 12.2-inch display of the 510, which sported the same resolution.

Punters can choose between four different processors – three of which are Intel’s 7th-gen “Kaby Lake”. They are the 2.0GHz Intel Core i3-6006U, 2.4GHz Intel Core i3-7100U, 2.5GHz Intel Core i5-7200U and the 2.7GHz Intel Core i5-7500U.

There are four, eight or 16GB of RAM options and a choice between 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of SSD storage. The Miix 520 is purported to include one USB 3.0 port and two USB-C ports, one of which will be used for charging.

The device has a 5MP front camera and an amalgamation of an 8MP and a 2MP rear shooter. The device’s documentation uses the term “AR”, hinting that it has something to do with augmented reality although at this point it is hard to see what this would be.

The Miix 520 supports Bluetooth 4.2 technology, an LTE modem, and a fingerprint scanner between its volume keys. The report claims that the device will run for ten hours.
Lenovo hasn’t confirmed the Miix 520 yet and while it does seem likely to be happening, it best not to bet on it.
