‘It’s not that easy’: Holly Willoughby praise after fiery breastfeeding debate on This Morning

Despite the fact that it’s been debated back and forth for a VERY long time, the topic of whether a woman should feed her newborn baby in public is still hotly discussed.

And when it comes to daytime debating, there’s hardly a better place to do it than on This Morning – and on Wednesday’s edition of the show, presenter Holly Willoughby found herself chiming in more than once… and plenty of viewers were on her side!

Mum-of-three Holly rarely sits on the fence when it comes to on-air discussions, but on the topics of babies and motherhood in particular, you can most definitely count on her for a comment or two.

So when Wednesday’s segment (29th March) focused in on one Twitter user’s rant over a mother breastfeeding her child – while enjoying a glass of wine – Holly, 36, couldn’t help but comment.

After guest and journalist Nilufer Atik stated her view of breastfeeding in the pub not being ‘appropriate’, and opposing guest Natalie Brown admitting that she did exactly that over the weekend, Holly let her feelings be known – and it’s clear that she’s sympathetic to those who choose not to use a cloth to cover the breast:

‘Some babies can’t feed under a cloth because they don’t like being in the dark. It’s not that easy. I don’t think it’s that easy.’

And plenty of viewers agreed with the host, taking to Twitter to praise her words.

‘Yes! @hollywills defending and normalising breastfeeding mum’s. [sic] They shouldn’t have to be isolated in an already difficult time #thismorning’, reads the comment of one user, while another chimed in with:

‘I agree @hollywills Breastfeeding is not that easy! A hungry baby needs feeding regardless of where you are! #ThisMorning’

However, there were also some who took an opposite view:

‘I think it’s not right to be breastfeeding in a pub or to the public, it should be done privately’, wrote one viewer, while another was more concerned about the mother being in a pub in the first place…

‘She made it people’s business by sitting in a pub. Point is … she shouldn’t be in a pub with a baby.’
