AMD delivers on Ryzen performance improvement promise

Only for Ashes of the Singularity for now

AMD is apparently delivering on its promise that it will push developers to bring patches that will improve performance for its Ryzen CPUs and Oxide Games’ Ashes of the Singularity is the first one to get it.

Thanks to Oxide Games’ new patch for Ashes of the Singularity, the Ryzen CPU performance has been improved by up to 30 percent in “Average Frames Per Second All Batches”.

According to AMD, as well as the performance analysis from some sites like Tom’s Hardware, Legit Reviews and PC Perspective, the performance improvement with the Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation Update puts the Ryzen 7 1800X ahead of Intel’s Core i7-7700K, which is its main rival.

The new update for Ashes of the Singularity now properly scales with the increase of the resolution, as noted by Legit Reviews and it appears to benefits from higher frequency DDR4 memory as well.

Hopefully, the patch from Oxide Games for Ashes of the Singularity is just a start and the rest of the developers will follow the same path. Stardock and Oxide Games showed that it can be done and bear in mind that AMD already has a big partnership with Bethesda as well as some other developers.

AMD has also released developers kits and plans to have over 1000 Ryzen-based systems to developers this year which allow them to optimize their current and future games to the new CPU architecture. AMD has also released the CodeXL Power Profiler as an Open Source tool for GPU debugging and GPU/CPU profiling, which should at least help developers to bring certain CPU optimizations.
