Vicky Pattison ‘snubbed’ by Blind Date for THIS reason as another star joins the show

Vicky Pattison might have become a regular face on our TV screens of late but there’s one show she’s surprisingly NOT going to be a part of.

The 29-year-old former Geordie Shore star had been tipped to be involved in the revamped version of Blind Date – which launches on Channel 5 later this year – but has supposedly been snubbed by the programme due to her audience being too young.

Instead bosses have handed the voiceover role to fellow Northern lass Melanie Sykes, 46, who will take over the part previously made famous by Graham Skidmore aka ‘Our Graham’ back in the day.

Mel joins new presenter Paul O’Grady as they take the show in a more modern direction since the 90s era when it was famously hosted by the late Cilla Black.

‘While Vicky was never going to take on Cilla’s presenting role, she was the frontrunner to star in some way,’ a TV source tells The Sun. ’However, the show has changed direction from its original plans.

‘It was first aimed at a young audience for a Friday night slot, but after signing Paul it switched to Sunday night and is now being aimed at an older audience.

‘Vicky’s audience is still quite young and it no longer felt like the right fit.’

Poor Vic! Meanwhile former model Mel is clearly excited about her new job and says: ‘It’s an honour to be joining such an iconic show and to be working alongside my dear friend Paul. I can’t wait to help a new generation find love on the show.’

In case you weren’t around in the show’s heyday, Blind Date sees three singletons being questioned by a contestant who’s looking for love.

Said contestant then picks one of the potential dates based solely on their answers and only then gets to see what they look like.

The pair then see if sparks fly by going on a holiday together and give an update on whether it could be love when they return.

Vicky – who has appeared in shows including I’m A Celebrity (which she won, of course), Loose Women and Virtually Famous since leaving Geordie Shore in 2014 – certainly doesn’t need to worry about finding romance herself as she’s totally smitten with boyfriend John Noble right now.

In fact she even hinted last month that she’d like to get ENGAGED to her man in the not-too-distant future. Who needs Blind Date, eh?
