Texas is one of roughly 15 states or so with a deregulated energy market. 85% of the state of Texas is deregulated. This means that in Texas, businesses have the option to choose their electricity provider. Instead of being forced to go with one or two utilities like in regulated markets, electricity providers open the market to competition.
We’ve put together a list of a few electricity providers that offer Texas electricity rates and plans to small, medium, and large businesses. As you work your way through the list, keep in mind that it certainly is not extensive. There are many, many more electricity providers in the state of Texas. Our purpose is to provide a launching pad from which a commercial business can use to better understand and explore their energy options.
Some benefits that Ambit offers (according to marketing material):
Small businesses can benefit from electricity or natural gas services (outside of Texas). Based on Houston ZIP Code, 77001, these types of companies can take advantage of plans that have fixed or variable rates with contract lengths ranging from 1 to 36 months. Rates for these plans start at near 4 cents per kWh, though custom rates are possible for larger accounts.
For businesses, Veteran energy provides services to commercial consumers that receive services from the following utilities:
Their service areas include:
Gexa Energy accommodates both small and large businesses. Businesses have the option of signing up for fixed, indexed, and renewable energy plans.
This service provider has options for both small and medium & large businesses. All options available to businesses focus on providing electricity via renewable resources, while striving to maintain low and reasonable rates.
Purchasing solar energy through Green Mountain Energy provides a commercial business with many opportunities. These opportunities involves significant savings, in addition to the ability to generate the energy required to power multiple sites or locations.
Smart Lock Business – These contracts have a fixed price for the entire length of the agreement (3 – 60 months). Termination or cancellations fees apply should the company want to exit the contract prior to its end date.
Smart Flex Business – This plan has no terms or fixed length. Electricity charges are varied and can change from month to month.
Smart Flex Business Index – All the benefits of the Smart Flex Business plan with the option to lock in rates if required.
With very few exceptions, Electric Choice can almost always obtain rates better than what you see on the web. We’ve worked with providers offering commercial energy rates for years and have built long-lasting relationships with almost every company out there — we know who to ask and what to ask to get the best rate and plan for your business.
We’ve built our business since 2002 off of referrals (keeping our customers happy), not fancy advertising, slogans, or gimmicks.
For much larger commercial buildings (think electric bills $XX,XXX a month), we even have the ability to hold reverse auctions allowing companies to bid for your business in real-time. This is just one of the ways we can ensure that you get the absolute best rate possible for your business.
