DC Cooler Than AC? (RMS to DC)

Years ago, a small "Energy Saving" device was sold to the public that fit inside a light socket. They claimed this "Green" device would reduce power consumption and reduce the amount of heat given off by incandescent lamps. Not only would you save money, but the device would make the light run cooler because it would be using DC instead. In this video we'll be investigating if the idea is plausible, or if the device was simply reducing the power being supplied to the bulb, which in turn made it not as bright and not as hot.
