Available in capacities of up to 1TB

Crucial has unveiled its M.2 version of the quite popular MX500 SATA SSD series at the CES 2018 show in Las Vegas.

Previously available only in a 2.5-inch form-factor, the Crucial MX500 series is based on the Silicon Motion SM2258 controller, paired up with Micron’s 16nm TLC NAND.

Spotted at the CES 2018 show floor by PCPer.com, the Crucial MX500 M.2 SATA SSD will be available in capacities of 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB, and are pretty much one of the most popular and affordable SATA SSDs on the market. Crucial also announced that it will be expanding the range by including the 2TB 2.5-inch MX500 series SSD.

Limited by its SATA-interface, the MX500 M.2 SSDs will offer sequential read and write performance of up to 560MB/s and 510MB/s, with 4k random read and write performance peaking at 90K and 95K IOPS.

The new Crucial MX500 M.2 SATA SSDs should be starting to appear in retail/e-tail pretty soon.
