How Do I Get Access To The Live 10 Beta?
If you’re a currently licensed user of Ableton 9 (Standard and Suite), it’s really easy to get access to the public beta of Live 10 right away. To get started, sign up on Centercode here. Once you’ve registered, you’ll be able to access a full download of Live 10’s public beta.
What’s New In Ableton 10?
There are new devices, Max for Live is built-in, many improved workflow and UI features, library improvements, and a huge power-up for Push and Push 2 users. We did a runthrough of a lot of the new features in Ableton 10 when it was first announced. You can also check out the official product page on Ableton’s site for more details and audio examples.
User Cautions!
A big warning to all users: Ableton 10 project files are not backwards compatible with Ableton 9. If you make a new project in 10, you won’t be able to open it in any older version. Be very careful!
You’ve got to be careful when using any type of beta software – but the above note is probably the most important. If you start saving project files in 10, you might be stuck with it until the full release comes out.
So When Is The Full Release?
Obviously entering a public beta is a big deal, but the company is still holding back on full release dates. Previous info from user communications seems to indicate it will launch in the first quarter of 2018. Here at DJTT, we’d we willing to bet that as with many products, Ableton will launch their new platform right around NAMM – which is at the end of this month.
