The new QK5P1000, QK7P3000 and QK7P5000 Mini PCs

Zotac has unveiled its new ZBox Q-series of Mini PCs which will feature Intel’s 7th generation Core i5/Core i7 CPUs paired up with Nvidia’s Pascal-based Quadro P1000, Quadro P3000 or even the Quadro P5000 series graphics cards, capable of providing some serious compute performance.

Coming in either a 184.6×184.6×71.5mm chassis, for the QK5P1000, or 210x203x62.2mm chassis, for both the QK7P3000 and the QK7P5000, the Zotac ZBox Q-series Mini PCs do not look half bad for a light and portable workstations, especially considering their specifications.

According to what we could gather from the announcement, considering that these are not yet listed on either Zotac’s own product page or any other shop, all three ZBox Q-series PCs will share some similar specifications, including support for up to 32GB of DDR4-2400 RAM in two SODIMM slots, 2.5-inch SATA 6Gbps HDD/SSD bay, M.2 PCIe x4/SATA SSD slot with support for 2242, 2260 and 2280 form-factor, 802.11ac WiFi with Bluetooth 4.2, dual Gigabit Ethernet and four display outputs.

The ZBox QK5P1000 is powered by Intel’s Core i5-7200U dual-core 2.5GHz CPU and comes with an Nvidia Quadro P1000 GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 on a 128-bit memory interface. This is a basic Pascal-based Quadro GPU but despite its 47W TDP, still packs 640 CUDA cores.

The ZBox QK7P3000 packs a more serious Intel Core i7-7700T quad-core 2.9GHz CPU and Nvidia Quadro P3000. It has a 75W TDP, 1280 CUDA cores and comes with 6GB of GDDR5 memory on a 192-bit memory interface.

The ZBox QK7P5000 is the flagship with the same Core i7-7700T CPU but uses 100W TDP Nvidia Quadro P5000 GPU with 16GB of GDDR5 memory on a 256-bit memory interface.

Bear in mind that all of these Zotac Mini PCs use mobile versions of Nvidia Quadro P-series GPUs so the clocks and actual compute performance might be lower than on desktop counterparts. All three new Zotac ZBox Q-series mini PCs are air-cooled with a blower-style fan for the GPU and elaborate cooling for the CPU.

Zotac has been doing well with its ZBox mini-PCs, covering almost every part of the mini PC market, from casual, gaming, to the professional market.

Unfortunately, we still do not have a precise launch date or the prices for the ZBox Q-series but Zotac did say it will show them at the NAB Show which is currently held in Las Vegas, so we might hear a bit more information from there.
