Curved VA panel, 2560×1440 resolution, 144Hz and HDR
It appears that the FreeSync 2 monitor market is finally heating up and Benq is among the first to join the new wave with its curved 32-inch EX3203R monitor which uses a 2560×1440 resolution VA panel with 144Hz refresh rate.
The Benq EX3203R monitor is based on a VA (vertical alignment) panel, which sits somewhere between TN and IPS panels, offering higher refresh rates but also better color reproduction and best contrast ratio. Benq used a 31.5-inch panel with 1800R curvature, 2560×1440 resolution, maximum brightness of 400cd/m2, a typical contrast ratio of 3000:1, 178-degree viewing angles, 144Hz refresh rate and 4ms response time.
While this is an 8-bit panel which provides 90 percent of DCI-P3 color space and due to its maximum brightness of 400cd/m2 is fits VESA-certified DisplayHDR 400 range.
When it comes to connectivity, the Benq EX3203R comes with two HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort and USB Type-C inputs as well as USB 3.1 Gen1 and headphone jack ports.
It features ultra-slim bezels on three sides, which will allow pairing up a couple of these monitors in an almost “seamless” multi-monitor setup. Its stand supports height and tilt adjustments and it supports VESA wall mount with optional transfer kit.
The new Benq EX3203R comes with Benq’s eye-care technology feature set including Flicker-free Technology, Low Blue Light, and Brightness Intelligence Plus (B.I.+).
More importantly, it supports AMD’s FreeSync 2 technology, which brings better HDR support, Low Framerate Compensation (LFC), low-latency, high-brightness pixels, excellent black levels and a wide color gamut to display High Dynamic Range (HDR) content.
While Benq is not the first on the market with FreeSync 2 capable monitor, since Samsung already announced its CHG70 series and CHG90 series monitors, Benq, and other makers could come up with more affordable solutions driving the price of such monitors down.
Unfortunately, Benq has yet to reveal availability and price details.
