This EP marks his first release on the label since the success of his album, Baobab, in 2017. Normally it begins in the studio but these tracks come straight from the road, from the heat of the audience and the fluidity of the live performance. They’re filled with the energy they collected on tour. Malecón Azul captures the intense and unique experience of being under the sun, in front of the sea, in a faraway place that feels like home. Rodriguez Jr. The EP begins with the emotionally charged Malecón Azul , as soft pads blend with tantalising keys whilst soothing chimes create a storied listening experience. Cluster#1 completes the release with subtle bloops converge on shimmering hats, whilst echoing pulses bounce along, before a reverberating synth leads into a progressively changing bassline.
Rodriguez Jr. is the alias of Olivier Mateu, the distinguished French producer who has remained as one of the scene’s most respected musicians for years. As Rodriguez Jr., Olivier has championed the melodically driving techno sound, one that changes and blends dependent upon his and the audience's mood. Not only an incredible producer, his talent for remixing has seen him create renditions for the likes of Eli and Fur, Jan Blomqvist and Monolink, whilst his live sets
continue to strike and emotional chord with fans around the globe.
