Unicorn Store, il trailer del film diretto e interpretato da Brie Larson

Reduce dal successo straordinario di Captain Marvel, dove interpreta l’eroina Carol Danvers che presto vedremo anche in Avengers: Endgame, Brie Larson è pronta a debuttare anche in un nuovo film, questa volta prodotto su scala indipendente. Si tratta di Unicorn Store, in cui l’attrice, oltre a incarnare la protagonista, debutta anche come regista. La pellicola, che sbarcherà su Netflix a partire dal prossimo 5 aprile, la rivedrà fra l’altro a fianco di Samuel L Jackson, che nel titolo del Marvel Cinematic Universe interpretava già Nick Fury.

Scritto da Samantha McIntyre, già sceneggiatrice di serie tv come Married o Bored to Death, il film vede come protagonista Kit (Larson), una giovane studentessa appassionata d’arte e di unicorni, che ha lasciato il college e si barcamena fra vari lavoretti senza capire cosa vuole fare della propria vita. Dopo essere costretta a tornare a vivere coi genitori, la ragazza incontra il Venditore (Jackson), un personaggio decisamente eccentrico che le promette qualsiasi voglia se si dimostrerà abbastanza determinata da realizzare ciò che ha sempre voluto fare: costruire un negozio a tema unicorni.

L’esperienza si rivelerà decisiva per cambiare la sua vita e sprigionare tutto il suo potenziale. Unicorn Store era stato presentato già nel settembre 2017 con una première al festival cinematografico di Toronto ma da allora non era riuscito a trovare una distribuzione. Ci penserà dunque la piattaforma di streaming a diffondere in tutto il mondo il titolo, in seguito ad un accordo che comprende anche una seconda pellicola, che sarà sempre diretta e interpretata da Larson, in cui due imprenditrici saranno costrette a inventarsi un finto collega maschio per essere prese sul serio.
