It’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday season! Some of the best discounts I’m seeing have been for mini PCs, and that’s perfectly fine with me because I absolutely love these tiny computers. They take up very little space on the desk, they offer excellent performance for the price, and they don’t cost too much.
Did I mention they’re super easy to upgrade and they usually support at least three 4K displays? Now that’s a fantastic way to increase your workstation productivity without breaking the bank!
Finding the right deals can be tricky, however, because there are so many things to consider from the configuration to the price. Fear not! I’ve been covering mini PC deals for a long time — and PCWorld has tested thousands of PCs over four decades — so let me help you out. I select our favorite deals by thoroughly examining the list of specs, overall design, user feedback, and general value. The RAM, SSD, and CPU all matter significantly in mini PCs, and if you’re not careful, you may select a “bare bones” rig that makes you bring your own memory and storage. None of our picks below will leave you in the lurch!
Updated Dec 1, 2025to reflect the latest deals and prices.

This year, Black Friday lands on November 28th. Cyber Monday is December 1.
2.
What are some things you need to consider when getting a mini PC?
The first thing you have to check off your list is just what configuration you need to get your job done. Are you going to use your new mini PC for browsing only? Do you want it to be able to juggle a bunch of apps and not choke on 50 browser tabs? Do you want to do some light gaming in your downtime? There are devices for each and every one of these scenarios, and they’re all quite affordable. The best part is that mini PCs are… well, small, and that they support multiple monitors out of the box, so you won’t need to pay for extra hubs.
3.
Can a mini PC replace a desktop computer?
For most people, the answer is “yes”! Mini PCs are definitely powerful enough to replace desktops for most users, especially if you’re going to use it for work, browsing, or streaming movies. If you want something for photo and video editing, or even gaming, there are models that allow you to do that, but they’ll cost a bit more. If you’re into proper gaming, however, you’re still better off with a gaming PC or laptop.
Everyone’s been trying to get around the fallout on DDR5 prices, but you can score a 32GB kit for less by going with a prebuilt desktop. There’s no better evidence of that than the MSI Codex R2 with an RTX 5060, Core i5-14400F, 2TB of storage, and 32GB of DDR5, which is on sale for just $899.
For the price, the specs all add up here. The Core i5-14400F is behind Intel’s current best gaming CPU, the Core i7-14700K, and the RTX 5060 is mostly suited for 1080p gaming, bolstered by DLSS Super Resolution and Multi-Frame Generation. The two points that are surprising are RAM and storage. You get 2TB of storage — 1TB is more common at this price — and 32GB of memory.
It’s no surprise that RAM prices are surging, with most 32GB kits going for around $350 to $450 over the holiday weekend. Shave that cost off the price of the MSI Codex R2, and you’re getting the rest of the components for around $500. That’s an incredible deal.
The MSI Codex R2 B14NVL5-449US comes with an Intel Core i5-14400F, Nvidia RTX 5060, 32GB of DDR5 memory, and 2TB of storage. You can save $200 on it for Cyber Monday, bringing the price down to $899.
For 1080p gaming, this configuration is just about perfect. The RTX 5060 currently ranks as our best value GPU in our GPU hierarchy when looking at FPS per dollar. It’s hamstring by an 8GB frame buffer, but thankfully, that limitation doesn’t impose itself too often at 1080p.
You could run into VRAM limitations if you step up to 1440p, though it’s hard to say for sure. Different games and engines stress VRAM in different ways, and using tools like upscaling or frame generation can throw off the frame buffer math, as well.
On the CPU end, the Core i5-14400F is great for a 1080p gaming rig. Although we weren’t positive on the CPU in our Intel Core i5-14400 review, that was mainly due to its last-gen comparison. The Core i5-13400 (and its F-series variant) offers performance within a point or two of the Raptor Lake Refresh chip.

As you can see from our benchmark results, the Core i5-14400F sits at the bottom of our results for gaming performance. It’s certainly the weakest link in this system, but the LGA1700 motherboard allows you to easily slot in something like the Core i7-14700K for an in-place CPU upgrade down the line.
The important thing when looking at this PC is that DDR5. Given where prices are, and where they’re headed over the next several years, securing a 32GB kit gives you a ton of flexibility for upgrades in the future.

Apple’s latest MacBook Air M4 is now discounted to $750 for Cyber Monday. The deal applies to the entry-level 13-inch model, giving you the same sharp Liquid Retina display and impressive M4 performance that we praised in our review, now for less.
The MacBook Air M4 continues Apple’s streak of refining what’s already its most popular laptop. It runs on the new M4 chip with a 10-core GPU, offering fast performance for everyday work, creative apps and light gaming. The upgrade from the M3 model is noticeable in both speed and efficiency, making it ideal for multitasking or editing photos and videos on the go.
Despite the power boost, it keeps the same slim profile that helped define the MacBook Air line. The unibody design is still one of the thinnest and lightest in its class, weighing just under three pounds, with a durable aluminum chassis available in four colors — midnight, starlight, silver and space gray. The fanless build keeps it completely silent during use, even when running intensive tasks.
The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display supports the P3 wide color gamut and reaches up to 500 nits of brightness, making text and images look crisp and vibrant whether you’re working indoors or near a window. You also get a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a three-mic array for clear video calls and a four-speaker setup with Spatial Audio support.
Connectivity includes two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, a MagSafe 3 charging port and a headphone jack. Battery life remains one of its standout features, with Apple rating it at up to 18 hours on a single charge. That easily covers a full day of work or travel without reaching for the charger.
There are a few small limitations, like the lack of a high refresh rate display and the fact that both USB-C ports sit on the same side. Still, for most users, the MacBook Air M4 strikes the best balance between power, portability and price.
If you want a larger screen, Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air M4 offers the same specs with more workspace, but the 13-inch remains the best pick for portability. You can read more about how it compares to other Apple laptops in our guide to the best MacBooks. This MacBook Air M4 deal makes one of Apple’s best laptops an even smarter buy.

Building an autonomous agent in LangChain is magical. You give it a tool like transfer_money, and it just works.
But that magic is also a security nightmare.
If your LLM hallucinates or gets prompt-injected, it can call that tool instantly. The API receiving the request has no idea if it was a valid user intent or a rogue agent. The request is just anonymous JSON.
We need Attribution. We need the agent to SIGN its work.
🖼️ Visual Guide
Prefer a visual explanation? I broke this architecture down into a 6-slide carousel on LinkedIn. It covers the “Why” and “How” in under a minute.
🛠 The Solution: The Identity Layer
I built the Agent Identity Protocol (AIP) to solve this. It is an open-source tool that gives your agent a local crypto wallet.
Instead of just executing a tool blindly, we force the agent to:
Generate a signature for the specific action payload.
Pass that signature to the API.
Verify it before money moves.
This creates a Non-Repudiable Audit Trail. You know exactly which agent authorized the action, and you can prove the message wasn’t tampered with.
💻 The Pattern (Code Tutorial)
Here is how to implement this pattern in Python using standard LangChain tools.
Step 1: The “Secure Tool” Pattern We wrap our sensitive logic in a secure function that requires a signature before execution.
from langchain.tools import tool from pydantic import BaseModel, Field
— The Identity Layer (Your Tool) —
class AgentIdentityClient: “””Wraps your local Agent Identity Protocol.””” def sign_action(self, action_description: str) -> str: # In a real app, this calls your MCP server (Agent Identity Protocol) print(f”🔐 AIP: Agent is signing action: ‘{action_description}’…”) # Simulating a return of a cryptographic signature return “7f8a9d001…[cryptographic_signature]…e4f”
identity_layer = AgentIdentityClient()
— The Secure Tool —
class TransferInput(BaseModel): amount: int = Field(description=”Amount to transfer in USD”) to_user: str = Field(description=”The recipient’s username”)
# 1. Construct the payload payload = f"TRANSFER_USD:{amount}:TO:{to_user}" # 2. Force the Agent to Sign (The Handshake) try: signature = identity_layer.sign_action(payload) except Exception as e: return f"❌ Authorization Failed: Could not sign request." # 3. Execute with Proof # In a real app, we send the signature to the Bank API to be verified print(f"🏦 BANK: Verifying signature... VALID.") print(f"💰 BANK: Transferred ${amount} to {to_user} (SECURE).") return f"✅ Transfer Complete. Audit ID: {signature[:10]}..."
Step 2: The “Unsafe” Comparison
Without this Identity Layer, most custom tools look like this. If the LLM hallucinates, the money moves instantly.
# DANGER: If the LLM hallucinates, this runs instantly. print(f"⚠️ BANK WARNING: Executing UNVERIFIED transaction of ${amount} to {to_user}!") print(f"💸 BANK: Money moved without proof.")
