  • Regione, Bruni: Si continua a penalizzare il Sud

    July 26, 2025

    Riceviamo e pubblichiamo

New government measures will also require developers to soundproof flats and apartments near existing venues

Music venues that are subject to noise complaints by nearby residential developments will be offered “greater protection” under new government plans.

The measures, which are set to be introduced under the national licensing policy framework, would mean developers taking responsibility for soundproofing flats and apartments near existing pubs or music venues.

  • DOGE is reportedly pushing an AI tool that would put half of all federal regulations on a 'delete list'

    July 26, 2025
    Hardware

According to a report from The Washington Post, DOGE is using an AI tool to analyze federal regulations and determine which to get rid of. A DOGE PowerPoint presentation obtained by the publication notes that its “AI Solution” — reportedly called the DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool — found that 100,000 out of over 200,000 regulations “can be deleted.” The document sets a September 1 goal deadline for agencies to complete their own deregulation lists using the tool, which it says can be done in under four weeks, and then “DOGE will roll-up a delete list of 50% of all Federal Regulations (100k Regulatory Rules).”

The tool is targeting regulations that are no longer required by law, The Washington Post reports. After it makes its suggestions, staffers would review the proposed deletions before finalizing a plan. According to the PowerPoint, the tool has already been tried out by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), where it’s been used to write “100% of deregulations,” and by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for decisions on 1,083 regulatory sections. The Washington Post spoke to three HUD employees who confirmed it was recently used. One also said that the tool got things wrong on several occasions, misreading the language of the law at times.

DOGE will reportedly start training other agencies on the tool this month. Head over to The Washington Post to read the full report.

Below, we’ll outline the best live TV streaming services to use to watch the game as it happens, wherever you are in the world, and how to use a VPN if it’s not available where you are.

How to watch the Premier League Summer Series 2025 from anywhere with a VPN

If you’re traveling abroad and want to keep up with all the Summer Series action while away from home, a VPN can help enhance your privacy and security when streaming.

However, some streaming services may have policies restricting VPN use to access region-specific content. If you’re considering a VPN for streaming, check the platform’s terms of service to ensure compliance.

If you choose to use a VPN, follow the provider’s installation instructions, ensuring you’re connected securely and in compliance with applicable laws and service agreements. Some streaming platforms may block access when a VPN is detected, so verifying if your streaming subscription allows VPN usage is crucial.

Quick tips for streaming the Summer Series using a VPN

    • With four variables at play — your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN — your experience and success when streaming Summer Series matches may vary.
    • If you don’t see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using the “search for city or country” option.
    • If you’re having trouble getting the game after you’ve turned on your VPN and set it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log into your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address on file with your account. Second, some smart TVs — like Roku — don’t have VPN apps you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll have to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you’re using (like your phone) so that any device on its Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct viewing location.
    • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install a cable network’s sports app, you’ll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your email address on file for your smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help, since both devices will appear to be in the correct location.
    • And remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so be sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.

  • This humanoid robot can do cartwheels, handstands and roundhouse kicks at less than $6,000

    July 26, 2025
    Hardware

For less than the price of a fully decked-out MacBook Pro, you can buy Unitree’s latest humanoid robot called the R1. You only have to shell out $5,900 for a robot that weighs around 55 lbs, stands about four feet tall, and is built with a Large Multimodal Model to handle complex tasks.

If you’re wondering what the R1 will be used for, your guess is as good as ours. Unitree said its robot is “fully customizable” and demoed its capabilities in a video showing off cartwheels, handstands, boxing, roundhouse kicks and running downhill, but didn’t offer examples with any practical use yet. The lightweight robot has an ultra-wide view and a four-microphone array to help it recognize voices and images, but was also built with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. It’s not hard to envision a world where people program the R1 as a robot butler to handle daily chores, much like what Meta is reportedly working on. However, you might even be able to square up two R1s to fight each other, as evidenced by Unitree promoting a unique fighting tournament that felt like a less aesthetically polished version of 2011’s Real Steel.

The latest R1 is a much lower entry point than Unitree’s previous humanoid robot, the G1, which starts at $16,000 and was demoed at CES 2025 with somewhat disastrous results. Even though the R1’s sub-$6,000 price tag is arguably high, it’s still much cheaper compared to other similar options, like Tesla’s Optimus bot that’s expected to go for at least $20,000.

  • Nvidia N1X SoC leaks with the same number of CUDA cores as an RTX 5070 — N1X specs align with the GB10 Superchip

Nvidia N1X SoC leaks with the same number of CUDA cores as an RTX 5070 — N1X specs align with the GB10 Superchip

    July 26, 2025
    Hardware

Nvidia’s long-rumored and long-delayed N1X SoC has broken cover once again, this time revealing its GPU capabilities through a fresh Geekbench OpenCL listing. We’ve seen various CPU-focused leaks surrounding this chip before, but this provides our first genuine look at the GPU. That being said, this isn’t final silicon—it’s an early engineering sample—but the details are enough to show where Nvidia is headed with its first consumer-class ARM SoC for laptops and possibly desktops.

The Geekbench entry confirms a 20-core CPU setup split into two 10-core clusters, built on Nvidia’s Grace architecture. More importantly, it confirms 48 Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs), translating to 6,144 CUDA cores—the exact count as the desktop GeForce RTX 5070. Interestingly, these specs also match Nvidia’s GB10 Superchip, which currently powers the DGX Spark AI mini-PCs, suggesting that N1X might be a repurposed, possibly lower-power version aimed at the mainstream market. After all, they’re both ARM-based chips developed in unison with MediaTek.

Performance, however, is still in the rough. This sample clocked in at a modest 1.05 GHz and scored 46,361 in OpenCL, roughly in the territory of the RTX 2050. The reason is power and frequency limits, which are typical of early prototypes, as well as the absence of dedicated GDDR memory, since the SoC relies on shared LPDDR5X. Even in this state, the N1X’s iGPU is already outpacing every modern integrated GPU, including Apple’s M3 Max and AMD’s 890M, which top out at around 37,500 in similar benchmarks.

Even in this state, the N1X’s iGPU is already outpacing every modern integrated GPU, including Apple’s M3 Max and AMD’s 890M, which top out at around 37,500 in similar benchmarks. The GPU performance ceiling is higher, given that a fully powered RTX 5070 boosts to 2.5 GHz with a 250W TDP, while the N1X is capped at around 120W for the entire chip.

This isn’t the first time the N1X has appeared on Geekbench. Earlier leaks revealed its CPU performance was competitive but not earth-shattering, which is to be expected from unfinished drivers and firmware. With the latest listing, Nvidia is signaling a hybrid approach: pairing a Blackwell GPU core array with an ARM-based CPU cluster, aiming for a balance of AI performance, gaming, and efficiency—similar to how AMD’s Strix Halo and Apple’s M-series chips are positioned.

There’s still no launch date in sight. Rumors suggest a Q1 2026 release, possibly timed to coincide with the next wave of AI-focused Windows laptops, as Microsoft appears to be holding up on that at the moment. For now, Nvidia’s N1X sits in the shadows, a prototype with the specs of a mid-tier discrete GPU and ambitions to push iGPU performance into uncharted territory.

If Nvidia gives this chip the power and bandwidth it needs, the N1X could be the first ARM-based SoC to seriously challenge x86 giants like AMD and Intel on high-performance laptops—and maybe even take a bite out of Apple’s lead in the premium AI laptop segment.
