The third iteration of the Emirates NBA Cup continues as group play begins to wrap up this week and the knockout round matchups begin to take shape

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers won the inaugural in-season tournament trophy in 2023, with James claiming the honors of tournament MVP. Last season, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks raised their NBA Cup banner over the eventual NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

But which team will claim its stake for the hardware in Las Vegas this year, and can it continue that tournament momentum into the postseason?

Here’s what you need to know about the in-season tournament, including rule changes for this year, takeaways from the week’s biggest games, schedule and scores.

    Nov. 25: Lakers 135, Clippers 118

Two years ago, the Los Angeles Lakers became the first team to win the NBA Cup.

On Tuesday night, they officially clinched a chance to become the first team to win it a second time.

Behind the latest sensational performance from Luka Doncic (43 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists, including a 32-point explosion in the first half) plus 31 points from Austin Reaves and 25 points from LeBron James, the Lakers eventually wore down the LA Clippers, becoming the first Western Conference team to clinch an NBA Cup playoff spot in the process.

While the game was a nip-and-tuck affair through the first three quarters, tempers flared late in the fourth quarter after a foul by Kris Dunn on Doncic, eventually leading to a shoving match between Dunn and Lakers center Jaxson Hayes that resulted in Dunn being ejected.

That, though, was only a part of a night that saw the Lakers continue their brilliant start to the season, improving to 13-4 on the year and moving into a tie with the Denver Nuggets for the second-best record in the Western Conference.

Of short-term importance, though, was the locking in of one of the four Cup playoff spots in the Western Conference portion of the bracket.

Doing so means that the Lakers, if they can win Friday at home against the Dallas Mavericks, will guarantee themselves a home game in the quarterfinals of the tournament, putting them on a path to return to Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, there were a pair of blowouts — including one of the most surprising results of the entire season.

The Washington Wizards — who entered Tuesday’s action with a 1-15 record and with a staggering negative 15.5 net rating — blew out the Atlanta Hawks, winning 132-113 in a game Washington led by as many as 29 points to give the Wizards their first-ever NBA Cup win (this is the third year the event has existed).

To show how much that win was an outlier: it improved that season-long net rating for the Wizards by two entire points per 100 possessions in one night.

Atlanta had entered the night with a chance to be in position to be the wild card team out of the East. Instead, the Hawks are virtually eliminated heading into Friday’s final group stage game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Orlando Magic, on the other hand, destroyed the injury-ravaged Philadelphia 76ers, winning 144-103 to move to 3-0 in East Group B, setting up a winner-take-all game Friday in Detroit against the East-leading Pistons.

But because the Magic won this game by such a ridiculous margin, Orlando now has a +61 scoring margin — the highest of any team in the Eastern Conference, and second only to the Oklahoma City Thunder (plus-63) of any team in the entire NBA.

So, with all of that in mind, here’s a look at where things stand across both conferences in Cup action heading into Wednesday’s penultimate day of group stage action:

Teams that have clinched a spot in the playoffs:

East: Toronto Raptors (Group A winner)
West: Los Angeles Lakers (Group B winner)

    What’s at stake Wednesday

    East Group A:

The Raptors have clinched the group, and play their final game at home against the cellar-dwelling Indiana Pacers. With a plus-53 point differential, it looked like Toronto would be the clear favorite to have the best point differential of any team in the East, and potentially any team in the league, heading into the knockout rounds before Orlando’s big night. A big win over Indiana, however, could still put the Raptors in pole position to earn the top seed.

    East Group B:

No matter what happens in Pistons-Celtics on Wednesday in Boston, the winner of this group will be the winner of Friday’s game in Detroit between the Magic and Pistons. If Detroit can win a franchise-record 14th consecutive game, however, it would give Detroit at least a chance to be the top overall seed — though with a plus-27 point differential, they have a lot of work to do to catch Toronto.

A Pistons win would also mean only six teams would be alive to fill the final three spots: Orlando, Detroit, Cleveland, the Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat and New York Knicks.

    East Group C:

Arguably, the game of the entire night across The Association Wednesday is in Miami, where Giannis Antetokounmpo has been upgraded to questionable with his groin strain for the Bucks, who are looking to advance to the Cup playoffs for a third consecutive season.

A win for the Bucks would eliminate the Heat and would clinch the group for Milwaukee if it is also paired with a Knicks loss in Charlotte on Wednesday, or with a Bucks win at Madison Square Garden on Friday.

A Miami victory would also clinch the group for the Heat with a Knicks loss either to Charlotte on Wednesday or to the Bucks on Friday. Already armed with a plus-46 point differential, Miami would also have a strong chance at a wild card spot if it can beat Milwaukee on Wednesday.

For the Knicks, the other team besides the Bucks to make the playoffs in each of the first two seasons of this event — though, unlike Milwaukee, the Knicks failed to reach Las Vegas in either of those first two trips — their fate this week is entirely in their hands. Because the Knicks previously beat Miami, wins over Charlotte on Wednesday and Milwaukee on Friday will guarantee the Knicks win the group, no matter what else happens.

    West Group A:

With under a minute to go on Friday in Phoenix, it looked like Wednesday’s game between the Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves would be for all the marbles in this group. But then Minnesota had a catastrophic collapse and lost to the Suns, and will find themselves all but certainly eliminated from advancing if they lose in OKC, despite currently boasting a gaudy plus-53 point differential.

The Thunder, meanwhile, are virtually assured of being the top seed in the West with wins over the Timberwolves on Wednesday and the Suns on Friday. Phoenix will improve to 3-0 and have a strong chance to at least be the wild card with a win against Sacramento on Wednesday.

    West Group B:

The Lakers clinched this group with a win Tuesday night. But if Memphis can win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday and the Clippers on Friday, the Grizzlies will be 3-1 and have a chance to get the wild card.

    West Group C:

If the Portland Trail Blazers beat the San Antonio Spurs at home on Wednesday, they’ll clinch this group. If San Antonio wins, however, then the winner of Friday’s game in Denver between the Spurs and Nuggets will win the group. — Tim Bontemps

    FAQ (by Tim Bontemps)

The NBA unveiled the six groups for the third edition of its in-season tournament — now called the Emirates NBA Cup. Here’s a look at everything you’ll need to know about the return of the competition.

    What is the format?

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has had a long-standing fascination with European soccer. Establishing an in-season cup competition within the NBA schedule came from soccer leagues having both a regular-season title, won by the team with the most points over the full year, and a separate tournament (or, in some leagues, multiple tournaments) that runs concurrently with the league season. In England, for example, there are the various divisions — led by the Premier League — and also the FA Cup competition. But unlike those European leagues, which play their cup competitions outside of their league schedules, the NBA Cup is built into the regular-season slate. The 30 NBA teams are split into six five-team groups — three featuring Eastern Conference teams, and three comprising Western Conference teams — with each team then playing one game against the other four in its group. The winner of each group, plus the team with the best record among the non-group winners, will then advance to the knockout stage of the competition.

How will this impact the regular-season schedule and standings?

Typically, the NBA sends out a full 82-game schedule in mid-August. Now, the league sends out only 80 games and leaves a gap for roughly a week to fill in later, depending on how the group stage of the NBA Cup plays out.

The two teams from the East and West that lose in the quarterfinals will play their 82nd game against one another on one of four dates: Dec. 11, 12, 14 or 15. Meanwhile, the 22 teams that fail to qualify for the knockout rounds will have their final two games scheduled — one at home and one on the road — on Dec. 11 or 12 and 14 or 15 against others eliminated in the group stage.

The teams that reach the NBA Cup’s finale will actually play 83 games — though the championship game won’t count toward the standings or any statistical markers. All four teams that make it to Las Vegas for the semifinals will have completed their 82 games, and won’t need anything else added. The additional wrinkle added to this year’s schedule is the possibility that a few dates on the calendar may move around. On Dec. 8, there are currently three games scheduled: the Sacramento Kings at the Indiana Pacers; the Phoenix Suns at the Minnesota Timberwolves; and the San Antonio Spurs at the New Orleans Pelicans. If any of those teams are playing in the quarterfinals, taking place on Dec. 9 and 10, those games would move to Dec. 7 (a decision that would be made by Nov. 29, the day after the end of the group stage).

This also would only be an issue if one of the teams were playing on Dec. 9. If they’re playing Dec. 10, nothing will change. The other scheduling quirk is that there are currently eight teams — the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, LA Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Washington Wizards — scheduled to play on Dec. 17, the day after the championship game in Las Vegas.

Any team that makes it to the semifinals in Las Vegas would have that game moved later into the schedule to avoid back-to-back games. The NBA made this change in an effort to avoid having empty days on the calendar while attempting to minimize back-to-back games for all teams as much as possible.

Are the semifinals and finals still being played in Las Vegas?

For this season, yes. Next year, however, the semifinals — like the quarterfinals — will be played at home sites. Having teams go to Sin City for a week (and, more importantly, trying to get fans there for two games over several days on short notice) hasn’t gone the way the league initially believed that it would.

What is new about the tournament this year?

Most of the games are being shown on Amazon Prime, including the knockout rounds. The schedule is also primarily on Fridays, beginning on Halloween, rather than bouncing back and forth from Tuesday to Friday throughout November as it did during the first two years of the tournament.

Why does the NBA Cup include regular-season games?

Before its launch, one of the main questions surrounding the in-season tournament was why any team would be incentivized to compete in it. The NBA ensured teams will be motivated by making every game part of the season — and, being in-conference, potentially important from a playoff-tiebreaker standpoint. If this had been set up like the cup tournaments in European soccer, there would have been nothing stopping NBA teams from opting out, literally or figuratively — sitting their top players for extra rest.

What teams make up the groups?

To create the groups, the NBA put all 15 teams in each conference into five pots, separated by their finish in last season’s standings. Pot 1 included the teams that finished 1-3 in regular-season record, teams 4-6 went into Pot 2, teams 7-9 into Pot 3, teams 10-12 into Pot 4, and teams 13-15 into Pot 5. As a result, the following groups were drawn:

    • East A: Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards

    • East B: Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers

    • East C: New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets

    • West A: Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz

    • West B: Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans

    • West C: Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs

Does one group stand out the most from the others?

This one is easy: West Group C. Three of the top four teams in the Western Conference — Houston, Denver and Golden State — are in the group, plus a Blazers team that excelled down the stretch last season. Oh, and don’t forget about Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs, too. West Group B is also competitive, but Memphis is already dealing with injuries, Dallas is missing Kyrie Irving and the Pelicans are expected to be well outside the playoff picture.

What do players get for winning?

In 2023, the first year the tournament was held, the players on the winning team received $500,000 each, while those on the runners-up got $200,000. The losing players of the semifinals each got $100,000, and those ousted in the quarterfinals each got $50,000. Now, in each subsequent year, the prizes will be slightly higher, as a result of negotiated raises year over year to keep pace with increases in the salary cap and basketball-related income as part of the most recent collective bargaining agreement between the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association.

Will anyone earn individual honors for their play in NBA Cup games?

There will be an MVP award, as well as an all-tournament team.

Will this have any impact on the playoffs?

Not beyond the games counting in the regular-season standings (and toward tiebreakers). The only playoff impact comes from the wins and losses accrued throughout the tournament. Though there was debate among league insiders about guaranteeing a playoff berth for winning the tournament, ultimately, that idea (or any other to further incentivize teams) was not enacted.

Why is it called the Emirates NBA Cup?

The league struck a sponsorship deal with Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, to sponsor the tournament after its initial run. The NBA said last year that it went with the most basic titles for both the tournament and its trophy — the “in-season tournament” and “NBA Cup” — as a way to introduce the concept to fans. However, using such nondescript names had another clear advantage: It gave the league a blank slate in case the tournament and cup became properties it ended up selling to a sponsor, and avoided the complications that could arise by naming them after someone (for example, the late NBA commissioner David Stern, one possibility that had been floated before the tournament was officially unveiled).

    • The Future of Developers with AI

      November 26, 2025
      Software

🧠 The Dawn of a New Era: Redefining Developer Power

For many years, the quintessential symbol of technological influence was a lone programmer, their face bathed in the glow of endless lines of code. Possessing an innovative concept meant relying on them—they acted as the indispensable interpreter, architect, and steward of digital innovation. Without their profound grasp of machine languages, aspirations stayed firmly in the realm of imagination.

However, this long-standing paradigm is now rapidly drawing to a close.

Consider a future where the most sought-after capability isn’t proficiency in Python, PHP, or JavaScript, but rather an exceptional command of… natural language. What if your capacity for clarity, inquisitiveness, and creative thought soon outweighs your deep understanding of complex algorithms?

This perspective might seem audacious, particularly coming from someone with a career dedicated to programming. Nevertheless, a growing conviction reinforces this belief daily: future leadership in technology will rest with those who effectively communicate with machines, not solely those who write their underlying code.

We will explore the forces driving this transformation, delve into the practicalities of this emerging “conversational” approach, and outline how you can begin developing this crucial skill today to thrive in the AI-driven revolution.

⚡ The Digital Divide Dissolves: A Paradigm Shift

Historically, the process of digital innovation followed a straightforward, yet often restrictive, sequence:

Human Vision ➡️ Developer Interpretation ➡️ Machine Execution

The software engineer served as an unavoidable intermediary in this chain. For example, an e-commerce platform operator using PrestaShop often experienced a continuous reliance on developers:

      • “To implement a custom promotion, I must consult the development team.”
      • “Analyzing customer feedback requires a specific script from the developer.”
      • “A new feature concept? That means assessing budget and developer availability.”

This chasm separating conceptual intent (the business requirement) from practical application (the technical solution) frequently caused friction, protracted timelines, and increased expenses. Countless promising concepts never materialized, bogged down by quotations or extensive project backlogs.

The emergence of sophisticated large language models (LLMs) such as GPT-4 has fundamentally disrupted this established framework. Now, for the very first time, machines no longer demand human interpreters conversant in their native tongue; they have mastered understanding ours.

The updated operational model now unfolds as follows:

Human Intent ➡️ Natural Language Interaction ➡️ AI-Driven Execution

Consequently, traditionally defined “hard skills,” like coding, are progressively yielding to capabilities long considered “soft skills”: specifically, communication. Influence is no longer derived from expertise in intricate syntax, but from the adeptness to articulate clear, comprehensive, and precise instructions.

This represents a profound shift towards democratization. Architects, marketing professionals, supply chain managers, and even e-commerce owners themselves can now directly command machine intelligence, bypassing traditional technical gatekeepers.

🚀 Mastering AI Dialogue: The Art of Prompt Engineering

Communicating with an artificial intelligence goes far beyond a simple Google search query. It constitutes a distinct skill set, known specifically as Prompt Engineering. This field represents both the artistic craft and scientific methodology behind formulating ideal instructions to achieve precise and desired outcomes.

The initial error many newcomers make is assuming that merely “asking” a question suffices. While AI is an immensely powerful instrument, it can be unfocused and deliver generic results without proper guidance (as explored in a prior discussion). To “speak effectively” with AI means meticulously shaping its output, providing clear direction, and setting necessary boundaries.

A proficient communicator with AI understands how to leverage four crucial components in every instruction:

      1. Define the Role (Persona) 🎭

Instead of addressing a generic machine, envision yourself engaging a specialized expert you’ve just brought into existence.

      • Ineffective: “Generate text about this item.”
      • Effective: “You are a seasoned copywriter specializing in high-end goods, particularly luxury timepieces…”

      2. Specify the Objective (Goal) 🎯

What specific task is the AI expected to perform? What is the ultimate desired result?

      • Ineffective: “Create a description.”
      • Effective: “…Your mission is to craft a product description that ignites desire and substantiates a premium price point by emphasizing exquisite artisanal craftsmanship.”

      3. Provide Context (Context) 📚

This pillar involves supplying all necessary raw data, illustrative examples, and constraints.

      • Ineffective: “The item is a watch.”
      • Effective: “…Here are the specifications: 42mm titanium casing, Swiss automatic movement, calfskin leather strap. Adopt a tone similar to this example: [paste text]. Crucially, avoid any mention of ‘affordability’.”

      4. Structure the Output (Format) 📦

How should the final generated response be organized?

      • Ineffective: “Give me the content.”
      • Effective: “…Format your response in JSON, including the following keys: seo_title, description_html, and key_points (an array containing 3 distinct strings).”

Those who master these four foundational principles can empower AI to execute incredibly sophisticated tasks. They operate not as coders, but as directors. They are the orchestrator, and the AI is their versatile performer.

🧮 Practical Application: Streamlined PrestaShop Support (Zero Code Required)

Consider a common challenge that often overwhelms many online retailers: managing customer inquiries. Inboxes frequently overflow with repetitive questions such as, “Where is my delivery?” or “How do I process a return?”

The Traditional Development Route (the Coder):

This approach would involve developing an intricate ticketing system and configuring a chatbot with inflexible scripts. Such a project could consume months of effort and incur costs of tens of thousands of dollars.

The Conversational AI Approach (the “Speaker”):

Alternatively, one can establish a dynamic workflow in mere minutes using integration platforms like n8n or Zapier.

Here’s an overview of the process:

      1. Workflow Trigger

An incoming email lands in the [email protected] inbox, initiating the process.

      2. Action 1 – AI-Driven Analysis

The email’s content is forwarded to an AI (e.g., GPT-4, Claude), guided by a master prompt meticulously crafted by our “speaker.”

      Prompt example:

      You are a customer support agent for a PrestaShop store. Analyze the following email. Your objective is to categorize it and extract key information. Respond ONLY in JSON. Possible categories: "Order tracking", "Return request", "Product question", "Other". Information to extract: "order_id", "product_name", "customer_sentiment" (positive, neutral, negative). Here's the email: {email_content}

      3. Action 2 – Intelligent Data Retrieval

      • If the AI classifies the email as “Order tracking” and identifies an order_id, the workflow interacts with PrestaShop through our MCP PrestaShop & MCP Tools Plus server to fetch the order’s current status (e.g., “Shipped,” “In preparation”).
      • Should the category be “Product question,” the system searches for relevant information within a designated knowledge base (which could be a simple Google Sheet).

      4. Action 3 – AI Drafts Response

A subsequent request is sent to the AI by the workflow.

      Prompt example:

You are still our support agent. The customer is asking where their order {order_id} is. The status in PrestaShop is "{order_status}". Write a clear, empathetic and reassuring response email in English. Address the customer by their first name if possible.

      5. Action 4 – Automated Finalization

The workflow can then proceed to:

      • Generate a draft email within the support inbox, ready for swift validation and single-click dispatch.
      • For straightforward inquiries, send an immediate, automated response.

In this demonstration, value creation didn’t stem from writing PHP code. Instead, it emerged from crafting two precise prompts in English. The true “architect” of this system is an exceptional communicator, adept at perfectly instructing their AI assistant. They masterfully “spoke” to the machine.

🌍 Vision & Future Trajectory: Leading the Symphony of AI

Does this mean the developer’s role is obsolete? Absolutely not. It signifies an evolution, a profound transformation.

Programmers aren’t fading away; they are being elevated. Their function shifts from constructing every brick in the digital edifice to engineering the fundamental frameworks and essential utilities. They are transitioning into AI Systems Architects. Their responsibilities will encompass:

      • Developing and maintaining powerful APIs that enable effective interaction for “speakers.”
      • Guaranteeing the overall system’s integrity, security, and optimal performance.
      • Constructing advanced tools that empower “speakers” to push boundaries even further.
      • Addressing the select, highly intricate challenges where AI currently falls short.

Coding itself transforms into a foundational meta-skill—the critical infrastructure underpinning all conversational interfaces.

Concurrently, new specializations are emerging, and established roles are undergoing significant changes:

      • Marketing professionals can now craft sophisticated, dynamic campaigns independently of technical assistance.
      • SEO specialists can devise extensive content strategies by effectively “directing” a legion of AI content creators.
      • E-commerce entrepreneurs gain the ability to prototype and rigorously test new functionalities on their own.

Crucial “soft skills”—such as curiosity, analytical thinking, innovation, compassion, and the capacity for summarization—are no longer merely optional additions to a resume. They are becoming central to generating true value. The machine capably manages the “how,” finally allowing humans to concentrate on the profound “why.”

🎯 Conclusion: Embrace the New Language

Historically, humanity adapted its thinking to machines in order to program them. Now, a profound shift is occurring: machines are learning to comprehend our way of thinking, our natural language.

This fundamental reversal represents the single greatest opportunity of our time. Its essence isn’t human replacement, but human liberation—freeing us from the rigid constraints of syntax. It unlocks creative potential for everyone with a vision, an idea, or a query.

Sheer technical prowess, once a formidable barrier, is increasingly becoming a readily available resource. The true distinction now lies in mastering effective dialogue, understanding intent, and providing context.

While code served as the lingua franca of yesterday, conversation will be the universal tongue of tomorrow.

The pressing question for all of us is: are you prepared to learn to communicate effectively?

Shopping for a New iPhone or Android Phone? Read This Before You Buy

      November 26, 2025
      Hardware

2025’s best phones, like the vibrant orange iPhone 17 Pro, the Android all-rounder Google Pixel 10 Pro and the consistently high-perfoming Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra share many things. They all offer amazing performance and come with incredible camera setups. Then there’s the massive, vibrant displays and the host of funky new AI skills, all of which makes these flagship phones the peak of what mobile tech can offer. It’s also no surprise that these fan-favorite phones have something else in common, too: whopping price tags.

Not everyone needs such top tech, however, or may simply be unwilling to spend the $1,000 or more typically required to get it. Luckily, the midrange sector of the phone world has been one of the fiercest battlegrounds for companies to compete in, resulting in some amazing phones that won’t break the bank. Features like wireless charging and cameras with multiple lenses that were once the domain of flagships are now commonplace on midrange phones.

Even budget phones will still offer decent camera quality and enough power for you to enjoy all of your everyday web browsing, WhatsApp-ing and Instagramming.

      Screen size

All phones have gotten steadily bigger over the last few years, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra measuring a whopping 6.9 inches. Small phones aren’t that common anymore, with almost no phones measuring under six inches in size.

      Software support period

A phone remains safe to use only as long as it receives security updates from the manufacturer to protect it from hackers. In the past, this was a bigger concern since most phones were supported for just two or three years, leaving them with a short shelf life. Today, however, extended support has become a competitive feature, with Google now offering an impressive seven years of software and security updates on its latest phones.

It means the most recent Pixel 10 Pro will still be safe to use in 2032, while Samsung has promised a similar support period for its Galaxy S25 range. Samsung’s Galaxy S20, released in 2020, received its final security update in 2024, however, so it’s important to confirm how long your phone of choice will be safe to use, especially if you’re buying an older phone on the used market. A longer support period not only gives you better value for money over the lifetime of the device, it’s also better for the planet, as it keeps older, but still usable phones out of landfill and reduces the number of new devices being made and shipped.

    • Missing NBC and Bravo on Fubo? Here are your alternatives during the channel dispute

      November 26, 2025
      Hardware

It feels like 2025 is the year of corporate standoffs and stalemates among TV providers, with the latest being a contract dispute between streaming provider Fubo and NBCUniversal which has led to a blackout of all the latter’s networks on the service. Channels like NBC, USA Network, Telemundo, and Bravo went dark on Fubo at 5PM ET on November 21, 2025, and as of now, there’s no projected date for their return.

A message released by Fubo to their customers explains, “Fubo believes customers should have the option to choose among multiple distributors to access the content they love. Unfortunately, NBCU has offered terms regarding pricing and packaging that are egregiously above those offered to other distributors.” A statement from an NBCU spokesperson adds, “Fubo has chosen to drop NBCUniversal programming despite being offered the same terms agreed to by hundreds of other distributors. Unfortunately, this is par for the course for Fubo — they’ve dropped numerous networks in recent years at the expense of their customers, who continue to lose content.” (Fubo, for instance, cut Warner-owned channels back in 2024.)

While the companies are continuing discussions to come to an agreement, audiences might have to go without this week’s midweek NBA game, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Bengals vs. Ravens Thanksgiving Day game, a new episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City on Bravo, and much more.

Fubo has already begun emailing customers to note that a $15 credit will be applied to their bills starting “on or after December 1.” But in the meantime, if you’re a Fubo customer and are wondering what to do, here’s everything you need to know about the Fubo-NBC blackout, which channels are missing and your options for where to watch them.

The following is a list of channels owned or operated by NBC that are not currently available on Fubo:

      Local Channels:

      • NBC Local Affiliates

      • Telemundo Local/National

      Regional Sports Channels:

      • NBC Sports 4K

      • NBC Sports Bay Area

      • NBC Sports Bay Area Plus

      • NBC Sports Boston

      • NBC Sports California

      • NBC Sports California Plus

      • NBC Sports California Plus 3

      • NBC Sports Philadelphia

      • NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus

      National Channels:

      • American Crimes

      • Bravo

      • Bravo Vault

      • Caso Cerrado

      • CNBC

      • CNBC World

      • Cozi

      • Golf Channel

      • GolfPass

      • LX Home

      • Million Dollar Listing Vault

      • MS NOW (formerly MSNBC)

      • NBC NOW

      • NBC Sports NOW

      • NBC Universo

      • True CRMZ

      • New England Cable News

      • Noticias Telemundo Ahora

      • Oxygen True Crime

      • Oxygen True Crime Archives

      • Real Housewives Vault

      • SNL Vault

      • Syfy

      • Telemundo Accion

      • Telemundo al Dia

      • The Golf Channel

      • Today All Day

      • Universal Movies

      • USA Network

Why are these NBC-owned channels currently unavailable?

Per Fubo, NBC channels were pulled from the platform because of a disagreement over their long-standing content distribution agreement that has yet to be resolved.

When will the missing channels return?

There is no information available as to when NBC’s lineup of channels will return. Negotiations between the companies are ongoing.

Is Fubo offering a rebate while these channels are missing?

In a message to subscribers, Fubo stated, “If NBCU programming remains off of Fubo for an extended period, we will directly credit $15 to your Fubo account.” At least one Fubo customer on our staff received an email confirming the credit would be automatically applied in the December billing cycle.

What alternatives do viewers have in the meantime?

Looking to switch from Fubo? You’ve got plenty of options, including Peacock, DirecTV, and Hulu + Live TV. Here are some of your choices:

      Watch NBC on Peacock

Get a deal on Peacock with Walmart+

Try DirecTV free for 5 days, and get $30 off your first month

Try Hulu + Live TV for free

      Other services to watch NBC

If I switch to a different service, can I cancel or pause Fubo in the meantime?

Fubo does not allow customers to pause their subscriptions, so if you’re looking to make a change, you can cancel your plan outright.

The treasurer, Jim Chalmers, who’s doing the media rounds this morning, is next to defend the “savings” the departments have to come up with.

On the Today show, he is asked: is the government being hypocritical here, considering the criticism they hurled at the Coalition for their proposed public servant cuts during the election?

What the Coalition was proposing was to cut tens of thousands of jobs. What we are proposing or what we’re asking departments to suggest is ways to reprioritise their lower priority spending so that we can invest it in higher priority areas.

There’s absolutely areas in the public service where we do need to think about making sure that we’re spending taxpayers money wisely.

[There’s a] trillion dollars worth of debt, $50,000 in interest repayments every single minute of every single day because they refuse to make the tough decisions and now you’ve got Christmas job cuts on the table that they’re saying won’t be cuts.

    • CFP Bubble Watch after Tuesday's ranking: Who needs a win during Rivalry Week?

      November 26, 2025
      Sports

Miami is inching closer but still needs some help.

With the Hurricanes creeping up to No. 12 on Tuesday night in the College Football Playoff selection committee’s fourth of six rankings, the ACC’s hope of having two teams qualify for the 12-team field is still alive. Time is running out, though, to convince the selection committee they’re better than Notre Dame — and right now a gap remains in spite of the head-to-head win. The ACC champion — even if it’s No. 18 Virginia — is almost certainly guaranteed a spot as one of the five-highest ranked conference champions. That’s evidenced by the fact that five of the ACC’s teams are still ranked above No. 24 Tulane, the only representative from a Group of 5 conference. The question is if Miami can do enough to join the ACC champion as an at-large team with one game remaining, on Saturday at No. 22 Pitt.

Though the Canes have no margin for error and could still use some help above them, they might get it if Ole Miss doesn’t win the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State. No. 6 Oregon jumped one spot above No. 7 Ole Miss, indicating that the Rebels might not recover from a second stumble.

With Rivalry Week on the horizon, there are still plenty of scenarios that can unfold — and hope is still oozing from the bubble.

Bubble Watch accounts for what we have learned from the committee so far — and historical knowledge of what it means for teams clinging to hope. Teams with Would be in status below are in this week’s bracket based on the committee’s fourth ranking. For each Power 4 conference, we’ve also listed Last team in and First team out. These are the true bubble teams hovering around inclusion. Teams labeled Still in the mix haven’t been eliminated, but have work to do or need help. A team that is Out will have to wait until next year.

The conferences below are listed in order of the number of bids they would receive, ranked from the most to least, based on the committee’s fourth ranking.

      Jump to a conference:
      ACC | Big 12 | Big Ten
      SEC | Independent | Group of 5
      Bracket

Would be in: Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas A&M

Last team in: Alabama. The Tide can either lock up a spot in the SEC championship game with a win against Auburn in the Iron Bowl — or can miss the playoff entirely with a loss to its rival. The debate will come if Alabama finishes as a three-loss SEC runner-up. The Tide have played the ninth-hardest schedule in the country, according to ESPN Analytics, and their résumé would only be enhanced by facing a top-five opponent in the SEC championship game. A third loss, though, even in a close game to a top-five team, could drop Alabama into a dangerous spot in the top 12 where it could face elimination to make room for a guaranteed conference champion — or a second Big 12 team.

First team out: Vanderbilt. The Commodores could stay status quo this week, which means at No. 14 they remain a long shot for an at-large bid. Punctuating their résumé with a win against a ranked Tennessee is the first step, but they would also need multiple upsets ahead of them to get serious consideration. It’s not inconceivable, as Miami can lose at Pitt, Oklahoma can suffer a third loss to LSU, Alabama can lose the Iron Bowl. None of it matters, though, without a win in Knoxville.

      Still in the mix: None.

Out: Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas

      Big Ten

Would be in: Indiana, Ohio State, Oregon

Last team in: Oregon. With the win against USC, Oregon eliminated the biggest threat to its playoff spot in the Big Ten and further solidified its spot in the top 10. The win against USC boosted the Ducks’ résumé enough to jump Ole Miss and the complete performance against another ranked contender answered some questions in the committee meeting room. Oregon now has an 16.5% chance to reach the Big Ten title game, according to ESPN Analytics, but it needs to beat Washington AND it needs Michigan to beat Ohio State.

First team out: Michigan. The No. 15 Wolverines are here because they can reach the Big Ten championship game with a win against Ohio State AND a loss by either Indiana OR Oregon. Michigan no longer has to worry about the head-to-head loss to USC because the Trojans have three losses and dropped behind Michigan to No. 17 in the latest ranking. The loss to No. 8 Oklahoma, though, would probably keep them behind the Sooners for an at-large bid if they both finished with the same record. Nobody in the country, though, would have a better win than Michigan if it beats the Buckeyes for a fifth straight season.

      Still in the mix: None.

Out: Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, UCLA, USC, Washington, Wisconsin

      Big 12

      Would be in: Texas Tech

Last team in: Texas Tech. The Red Raiders can clinch a spot in the Big 12 title game with a win at West Virginia. As long as Texas Tech can do that, it should be a lock for the CFP — win or lose in the Big 12 championship. It would be both stunning and difficult for the committee to justify dropping Texas Tech if its second loss is to a top-11 BYU team that it beat handily during the regular season. The Red Raiders would be the only team that could claim a regular-season win over the eventual Big 12 champs in that scenario.

First team out: BYU. The Cougars can clinch a spot in the Big 12 title game with a home win against UCF on Saturday. They’d be a CFP lock with the Big 12 title, but a loss would likely knock them out of the bracket because they’re already in a precarious position and would have lost to the same team twice. They would need multiple upsets to happen above them to stay in consideration as the two-loss Big 12 runner-up.

Still in the mix: Arizona State, Utah. ASU can earn a spot in the Big 12 title game with a win against Arizona AND a BYU loss OR a win AND losses by both Texas Tech and Utah. The Utes will reach the Big 12 title game if they beat Kansas AND both BYU and Arizona State win AND Texas Tech loses.

Out: Arizona, Baylor, Cincinnati, Colorado, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, UCF, West Virginia

      ACC

      Would be in: Miami

Last team in: Miami. Miami’s chances of reaching the ACC title game are now 14.2% — third best in the league behind SMU and Virginia, which are both above 80%. That means their best chance to reach the CFP remains through an at-large bid. It’s imperative they win at Pitt on Saturday and it helped that the committee ranked the Panthers No. 22 on Tuesday night. Miami’s loss to SMU no longer looks as bad as it initially did after the Mustangs cracked the CFP top 25 at No. 21. Miami’s getting some help, but it has also helped itself by winning three straight games by at least 17 points. Saturday at Virginia Tech was Miami’s first road win outside of its home state, which is something the committee has been waiting for. Miami’s win against Notre Dame remains one of the best in the country, and the Canes are now within range of the committee revisiting the head-to-head tiebreaker. They’re both in the same conversation as Alabama and BYU. If Miami can win at Pitt, the committee would certainly factor it into their discussion during the fifth ranking. It’s important to remember, though, that head-to-head isn’t the only factor in the room. It’s the entire body of work, and right now, the committee is more impressed by the Irish.

First team out: Virginia. Of all the convoluted scenarios still left in the ACC, this isn’t one of them: if Virginia beats rival Virginia Tech on Saturday, the Cavaliers will clinch a spot in the conference title game. And with No. 21 SMU now one of five ranked teams from the conference, the ACC title game is likely to feature two ranked opponents. The Mustangs have the best chance to reach the ACC championship game (86%) followed by Virginia (81%) after Week 13, but SMU lost to Baylor, TCU and Wake Forest — the latter of which are both above .500. If SMU wins at Cal on Saturday, the Mustangs will clinch a spot in the ACC title game. Virginia was the committee’s second-highest-ranked ACC team behind Miami in its fourth ranking, and the Cavaliers had a bye.

Still in the mix: Duke, Georgia Tech, Pitt, SMU. Here’s where you can find your convoluted scenarios. Pitt can get in the ACC championship game with a win AND either a loss by SMU OR UVA. Duke can get in with a win and losses by two of the following three teams: Pitt, SMU and Virginia. Georgia Tech needs so many things to happen it might want to find a church instead of Georgia.

Out: Boston College, Cal, Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, Stanford, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest

      Independent

Would be in: Notre Dame. The Irish are doing everything right — they’re winning and looking good doing it. If they can seal the deal with what should be a relatively easy win against Stanford, Notre Dame will be in the familiar position of waiting and watching while the conference championship games unfold and possibly alter the picture. Notre Dame fans should be keeping a close eye on the SEC and Big 12 title games. If Miami beats Pitt, the committee would compare that common opponent with Notre Dame, who also beat Pitt. They would continue to talk about the head-to-head tiebreaker, but it’s not the final determination. Both Miami and Notre Dame can earn at-large bids, but if there are two Big 12 teams in, someone currently in the top 10 would have to be excluded.

      Group of 5

Would be in: Tulane. This is where the committee will probably continue to differ from the computers, which say James Madison (57%) and North Texas (54.4%) have the best chance to reach the playoff. JMU’s schedule is currently ranked No. 123, while North Texas is No. 127, and that has held both of them back in the committee meeting room. Tulane is No. 73 with wins against Duke and Northwestern. The No. 24-ranked Green Wave maintained its spot this week as the committee’s highest-ranked Group of 5 team following its 37-13 win at Temple, its largest margin of victory this season.

Still in the mix: East Carolina, James Madison, Navy, North Texas, South Florida. JMU has clinched the East Division and a spot in the Sun Belt Conference championship game. It will face the winner of Southern Miss vs. Troy. Five teams from the American are still eligible to play in the conference championship game and there are multiple tiebreaker scenarios still looming. Tulane has one of the most direct paths. It would clinch with a win if it is the highest-ranked team from the American in the CFP ranking. North Texas would clinch a spot with a win — because Navy was not ranked ahead of Tulane and North Texas in the CFP ranking on Tuesday. Navy could clinch a spot with a win AND a loss by either Tulane OR North Texas.

      Bracket

Based on the committee’s fourth ranking, the seeding would be:

      First-round byes

No. 1 Ohio State (Big Ten champ)
      No. 2 Indiana
No. 3 Texas A&M (SEC champ)
      No. 4 Georgia

      First-round games

On campus, Dec. 19 and 20

No. 12 Tulane (American champ) at No. 5 Texas Tech (Big 12 champ)
No. 11 Miami (ACC champ) at No. 6 Oregon
No. 10 Alabama at No. 7 Ole Miss
No. 9 Notre Dame at No. 8 Oklahoma

      Quarterfinal games

At the Goodyear Cotton Bowl, Capital One Orange Bowl, Rose Bowl Presented by Prudential and Allstate Sugar Bowl on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

No. 12 Tulane/No. 5 Texas Tech winner vs. No. 4 Georgia
