Now Indonesia pursues Google over tax

Google faces a big tax bill from the Indonesian government.

According to a Reuters report, an official from the tax authorities said that Google could expect a bill of over $ 400 million for 2015.

But Indonesia also believes that Google owes it unpaid tax over a five year period.

Apparently, Google books its revenue from Indonesia in its Asia Pacific Singapore HQ. Because this office refused to be audited in June, the Indonesian tax authorities classified the case as a criminal matter.

Google declined to comment on the reports, according to Reuters. The tax office will demand that directors from Google Indonesia appear before it in person, and the police have been called in to help investigate the case.

Indonesia is also investigating other unnamed companies, the report added.
