Oh no! Married At First Sight’s last remaining couple have split after just five months

And Caroline is selling her wedding dress…

We’d really been hoping that all of the scientifically matched couples on Channel 4 show, Married At First Sight would live happily ever after.

For eight brave singletons, they took a massive step in the quest to find love by agreeing to marry someone on national TV that they’d NEVER met before.

Terrifying, right?

But while it became clear that three of the pairs weren’t exactly compatible and barely made it a month – for Londoner, Caroline Knott and Bournemouth born, Adam Donoghue they actually seemed to be making a go of things and were the only ones still going strong by the end of the series.

Now, five months down the line it looks like it’s all over for the hopeful couple as Caroline revealed in December that they’ve decided to call it quits.

Noo!

In a photo of Caroline ringing in the New Year with a bunch of friends she’d met on the show – eagle-eyed fans noticed her hubby was nowhere to be seen.

The Insta shot read: ‘It’s safe to say 2016 hasn’t been what I expected…

‘I took a leap of faith and married a stranger on national TV, but instead of living happily ever after with a scientifically matched husband I found something even more amazing; these cool kids.

‘Everyday these beautiful souls buoy me up and give me something to smile about. It’s been a mad year, but I can’t think of anyone better to party into 2017 with.’

And it looks as though Caroline is keen to move on from 34-year-old Adam as she’s already selling the Vera Wang gown that she wore on her big day.

Posting a pic of her AH-mazing wedding dress, the 28-year-old seemed to be taking a dig at her ex as the caption read: ‘2017 is definitely out with the old, and in with the new; and I’m currently selling my @verawanggang wedding dress! Gorgeous sterling grey, size 10, taken up but unaltered on the bodice.’

Eeek!

And the news of the break-up comes as a bit of a surprise as the pair hit it off as soon as they were introduced – with both equally shocked at how quickly they clicked.

Despite a slight conflict over where they would live – as Adam was stuck in Bournemouth and Caroline was desperate to stay at her home in London – they seemed solid.

While we don’t know exactly what caused the break-up, Caroline has since opened up explaining that she hadn’t found the ‘great partnership’ she’d hoped for.

Writing on her blog, she said: ‘I thought I was signing up to find the person who was so compatible with me, someone who would come to be my perfect person and I could build a life with.

‘I didn’t find that in the husband the experts found for me. But I did find it in the friendships that I made from the other crazy optimists who also gave this a shot.’
