The superstar has been laid to rest
Over three months have passed since the sad and sudden death of pop superstar George Michael, and fans all over the world are still coming to terms with the loss.
However, his closest loved ones have now said goodbye for the last time as his funeral has finally taken place.

On Wednesday afternoon (29th March), George – birth name Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou – was laid to rest at Highgate Cemetery, north London in a private ceremony. He died on Christmas Day 2016 (25th December) at the age of 53.
Though they have remained particularly quiet during this difficult time of mourning, George Michael’s family have broken their silence via a statement released to the public, thanking fans for their fervent support.
‘We can confirm that the funeral of the singer George Michael took place today,’ the statement, given through a spokesperson, reads. ‘Family and close friends gathered for the small, private ceremony to say goodbye to their beloved Son, Brother and Friend.
‘George Michael’s family would like to thank his fans across the world for their many messages of love and support.
‘We ask that the family’s wish for privacy be respected so that they can continue to live their lives privately, away from any media intrusion.’

As well as family, there were a number of celebrity guests also present; fellow Wham! band members Andrew Ridgeley and Pepsi DeMacque, Martin Kemp, boyfriend Fadi Fawaz and ex-lover Kenny Goss said their final goodbyes at the ceremony.
