Finally, after more than two years of research, curation, design, and administrative fine-tuning, the retrospective of my origin as an artist is available.
‘What I Used to Play’ is the definitive record of my musical development. On each of the twenty-four sides of vinyl, you can trace track by track, what influenced me during which phase, and how it all started.
In the period from 1981 to 1990, my very personal journey as a DJ began. I started at my parents‘ nightclub ‘Queen’s Pub‘, and soon I had the chance to play at the infamous Dorian Gray, followed by Vogue, which I later took over with partners in 1988 to transform it into the legendary Omen, where we experienced so many great memories.
We went to the record stores in Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, and even further, every week. Once you discovered the innovations, it was unbelievably exciting to play them in clubs at the weekend and to feel the response. It was an intensive and wild time, electronic music, and the way of celebrating it, developed quickly as you might discern while listening to ‘What I Used to Play’.
