DJ, producer and gifted vocalist Thandi Draai, has established herself as a true rising star, with music released via the likes of Soulistic, Soul Candi and Defected. This independent artist’s dreams became a reality when she moved to Johannesburg and made it to the semi-finals on South Africa’s ’1s and 2s’ DJ-producer TV show. Draai continues to build her impressive discography by making her debut on Get Physical with the stellar ’Iris’, backed with remixes from afro-house master DJ Clock, Karyendasoul and Cueber. Captivating opener ’Iris’ is a work of electronic art, fueled by Thandi Draai’s elegant vocals set against eerie synths and soaring high frequency elements. First of the remixes sees DJ Clock’s deliver a deep and dubby cut, with jazz-tinged percussion accompanied by hypnotic snares and delicate keys to reveal a chilled, after-hours production. Karyendasoul’s eclectic remix harnesses swirling melodies, broken drum patterns and sci-fi vibrations to reveal an outer-space styled hit, before Cuebur’s remix finishes things off with delicate percussion and warm bass motifs which make for a hazy track that completes an impressive package. www.getphysicalmusic.com

Damon Albarn performing music from his latest project "The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows" live on Boiler Room. The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows is the new project from singer, songwriter and composer Damon Albarn, inspired by the landscapes of Iceland. Albarn has been a frequent visitor to Iceland for almost three decades and has in this time found musical inspiration in its nature and landscapes. This broadcast is the first performance of a selection of this new music and comes on the day Albarn was due to start a sold-out 15-date European tour which would have featured conductor André de Ridder and an ensemble of 14 musicians and 4 singers. The selection from The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows will be performed by Albarn alone with materials from workshops which were interrupted by the global lockdown.
