The heartbreaking story of Strictly Come Dancing star Anastacia

This lady has come through a lot over the years

Anastacia might have experienced some drama in her first Strictly Come Dancing dance-off but it’s nothing compared to what she’s previously been through.

The singer – who caused controversy when she couldn’t perform again due to injury, meaning the result was based on the public vote and she was allowed to stay in the competition – has faced a heartbreaking succession of events over the years, from relationship troubles to gruelling health battles.

Her father leaving

Anastacia was just three when her dad Robert Newkirk left her mother, leaving her alone to raise the singer and her siblings Shawn and Brian. The sad experience led Anastacia to write powerful tune Left Outside Alone, and she admits that she had little contact with Robert before he passed away.

’He was a manic depressive,’ the singer told The Scotsman in 2008. ‘The last time I contacted him I was in my early teens. I had all these unanswered questions in my heart.

‘In a way, once I got cancer and you wonder about whether you are going to be living or not living, I wrote that song.

‘I had a hard time singing it on tour knowing that the questions were never going to be answered, but in a way, when he passed, although I felt saddened, I felt enlightened. I could love him again. I can talk about him.’

Crohn’s disease

As well as the sadness of her dad leaving, Anastacia experienced further difficulties when growing up. The star began suffering from Crohn’s disease as a teenager, which left her bloated and on drugs to treat it.

She even had her small intestine taken out at 13, something that left her wheelchair-bound.

‘They had cut right through my stomach muscles and I was in a wheelchair for a while because I had no core muscles to support my weight,’ she revealed to The Mail On Sunday in 2009. ‘I was very angry about that scar for a very long time.

‘I thought my life was over. No guy would ever look at me and see me as pretty, or want to touch me or love me.’

Eventually the American star learned to love her scar and happily started wearing midriff-bearing tops in her 20s.

Divorce

In 2007 Anastacia married her bodyguard Wayne Newton but sadly their wedded bliss didn’t last long as they divorced in 2010. Like the trauma of her dad leaving, this experience led the singer to write a song about her heartache.

Speaking about the tune Pendulum in 2014, she explained: ‘It’s totally about the loss of my marriage, but it’s a beautiful song. I think I lost a bit of myself for a while. My career got so busy I’d be thinking: “Who the hell I am?”

‘I used to believe in happy-ever-afters. Now, I have a bit more of a realistic approach… If I still believed in happy-ever-after the way I used to, I wouldn’t have been able to write this album.’

Heart problems

Further health problems hit Anastacia in 2008 when she learned she had supraventricular tachycardia, a heart condition which causes varied and rapid heartbeats. Rather than treat this with an operation, the star has chosen to use medication.

‘The doctors say it’s a weakness triggered by stress,’ she told Hello! in 2008. ‘I’ll be sitting chatting and suddenly my heart will beat like I’m running a marathon. I’ve fainted backstage because I can’t get rid of the palpitations.

‘They can fix it by putting two electrodes into my heart and shocking it, but I don’t want more surgery right now, so I’m on medication. The side effect is fatigue.’

Breast cancer

Anastacia faced a battle with breast cancer when she was still in her early 30s. The disease was discovered in 2003 when she had gone into hospital to have a breast reduction and she then had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy to successfully treat it.

Sadly the singer faced a second battle with breast cancer when she was diagnosed again in 2013. This time she elected to have a double mastectomy and admits this was incredibly tough both physically and mentally.

‘That was a difficult time, not least because it felt like I was losing part of my femininity,’ she tells the Daily Mail. ‘But hardships are what shape a person and I was determined to remain as strong as I could.

‘The operation involved taking a muscle from my back to use as part of the breast reconstruction. It took a year to recover and even now there are certain moves I can’t make when I’m dancing on Strictly because of the impact it has on my back – as anyone who’s watched me will know!’

Anastacia announced when she joined the Strictly line-up that she’d be donating her fee to Cancer Research UK and aims to raise as much money as possible for the cause.

Throughout all of this heartbreak, the singer has understandably been praised for her strength and courage. Yet she admitted to the Metro in 2014 that she struggles just like anyone else would.

‘I’m just as fragile and broken as anyone else at times,’ she said. ‘We all have to get through our stuff as best we can.

‘Some of us have strong armour, some of us don’t. Sometimes my armour has been very strong and sometimes it’s been very fragile.’

Atrévete a cumplir tus sueños

Octubre. Hace sol. Hace frío. Hace un tiempo de locos. Pero hemos superado la vuelta al colegio (el estrés, los nervios y los gastos). Los niños, bien, gracias. O sea, irritantes y encantadores, pero asegurándose siempre de que no comparten el estado de ánimo, no vaya a ser que nos relajemos. Yo no he vuelto al gimnasio porque no me da la gana. Pablo no ha vuelto al trabajo porque… Esa es una buena pregunta. Aunque sí que volvió. Pablo regresó a su despacho el 1 de septiembre. Trabajó todo el mes con una normalidad absoluta y el primer lunes de octubre dejó las llaves del coche de empresa en la mesa, cogió una tacita que le habían regalado sus hijos y se marchó.

“Quiero perseguir mis sueños”. Eso me dijo por la noche. Y yo contesté lo que toda buena compañera: “Lo que quieras, amor. Yo, contigo”.

Hay dos cosas que tensionan a las parejas y que nunca se comentan. O no en serio. El sexo y el dinero. Del sexo se habla en las revistas, en los chistes, en los tópicos… Y ya. Del dinero ni eso: nos enseñaron (no sé si bien o mal) que, como tema de conversación, era muy grosero. No queremos que nadie nos juzgue por lo que ganamos, por lo que gastamos, por lo que debemos. Y aún así, una pareja es un presupuesto común. Por eso, cuando Pablo se explicó, a mí me creció dentro de la cabeza un aterrador neón intermitente con el símbolo del euro.

Pablo tiene cincuenta y pocos, dos hijos, una casa en la que vive su ex y… no sé si tiene ahorros. Nunca lo pregunté. No lo voy a preguntar.

Yo tengo un hijo, un trabajo, una hipoteca, un plan de pensiones más bien escasito. Y ya. Ni puedo ni quiero dejar de trabajar.

Pablo tiene sueños que no me había contado.

Este verano leí que abandonarlo todo para esculpir / montar un club de buceo / hacerse coach / dirigir una academia de aikido / viajar patrocinado por toda Latinoamérica… son sueños que solo se pueden permitir los ricos.

“Hagas lo que hagas, no dejes tu trabajo por una pasión que quizá nunca te dé de comer. No todo el mundo puede ser un chef que derroche estrellas Michelin”. Eso, precisamente eso, decía el reportaje que leí yo en verano, en un medio cultureta, disruptivo y… castrador.

Ahora es octubre y tengo en casa un valiente, un ingenuo, un soñador o un loco. Tengo en casa al hombre al que quiero y al que no conozco del todo. No sé cuáles son sus sueños, no sé si se los puede permitir.

Pero sé, eso sí, que le quiero. Intento apagar el neón. No puedo. Tiemblo. Lloro. Me seco. Me levanto. Me siento. Le abrazo.

“Palante”, le digo.

Y él me aprieta porque odia esa contracción vulgar y sabe que le chincho desde el apoyo más absoluto.

Alla première c’era il protagonista Richard Madden, famoso per il ruolo di Robb Stark in Game of Thrones e qui nei panni del banchiere Cosimo de’ Medici e gli altri interpreti della serie cher vanta un cast internazionale: Alessandro Preziosi, Stuart Martin, Annabel Scholey, Guido Caprino, Miriam Leone, Alessandro Sperduti, Valentina Bellè, Ken Bones e Steven Waddington. La Felberbaum, 36 anni, è diventata mamma per la seconda volta lo scorso 3 settembre. L’attrice, dopo Olivia, 2 anni e mezzo, ha avuto il piccolo Noah dal marito, il calciatore della Roma Daniele De Rossi. Nella fiction interpreta Maddalena e per la conferenza stampa ha scelto di indossare una camicia color carne e pantaloni ampi a quadri…

Did Little Mix just expose The X Factor star Honey G’s BIG secret!?

GASP!

Hate her, love her – Honey G is on the lips of every The X Factor contestants. Mostly, people are asking why she’s in the competition in the first place? Well it seems Little Mix have the answer!

The former winners may have just blown the most obvious joke in the show’s history by claiming that she is actually an actress.

We already uncovered the fact that Honey G, real name Anna Gilford, is in fact a former competitive tennis player from Harrow, who has a master’s degree in management. Oh, and she runs her own recruitment company.

Yet she also appears as a rapper in her spare time? Hmmm…

Well Jesy, Leigh-Anne, Perrie and Jade all appeared on KISS FM to promote their new album and decided to blow her cover in the mean time.

Aurora Ramazzotti: ‘Non sarò mai una figa stratosferica, ma ora sono felice’

Aurora Ramazzotti al Corriere della Sera racconta se stessa. Ha quasi 20 anni e il sorriso di mamma Michelle Hunziker stampato sul volto. La bionda le ha insegnato l’autoironia. “Mi ha aiutata più di una volta a farmi scivolare le cose addosso”, sottolinea. Papà Eros Ramazzotti è il suo Superman: “E’ buono come il pane, io no, ho un po’ di malizia in più. Lui è davvero l’uomo che più ammiro al mondo”. 
Spesso criticata perché non particolarmente avvenente, Aurora Ramazzotti ha imparato ad accettarsi. “Non sarò mai una figa stratosferica, ma ora sono felice con me stessa. La bellezza è tante cose: il tuo modo di essere, di fare, di metterti in relazione con gli altri. I momenti di debolezza li hanno tutte: mia madre e Angelina Jolie“. 

Aurora Ramazzotti ammette: ‘Non sarò mai una figa stratosferica, ma ora sono felice’

Non è accecante come ‘una figa stratosferica‘, ma Aurora Ramazzotti è cresciuta ed è molto più sicura di sé. Non le importa neanche più di essere una ‘figa stratosferica‘ nella vita ha molto altro, su tutto, una famiglia che la riempie d’amore e che ora condivide con tre sorelle e un fratello: Sole e Celeste, le figlie di Michelle e Tomaso Trussardi, e Raffaela Maria e Gabrio Tullio, i figli di Eros e Marica Pellegrinelli. “Non riesco più a immaginare la mia vita senza di loro. Però sono anche felice di poter scegliere quando andare a trovarli, perché non è tutto rose e fiori: mi tirano i capelli, mi vomitano addosso, mi lanciano gli oggetti. Da mia madre non ho più la stanza perché ora c’è la culla di Celeste: sono diventata brava come un Ninja a muovermi senza svegliarla… Da mio padre, invece, ho mantenuto la stessa camera”, racconta. Non si è mai trovata con tutti i fratellini e le sorelline insieme: “Ma non escludo che crescendo possa succedere. Io l’ho detto a tutti: guardate che Milano è così”. E’ ‘piccola’, questo il senso.
Adesso Aurora Ramazzotti vive da sola: “Ho avuto bisogno di assestarmi un po’. Condivido l’appartamento con Camilla, ci conosciamo da che eravamo all’asilo. Quando non c’è ancora, ogni tanto, ho paura…”. Ha un’altra amica del cuore, una sorella per scelta, Sara Daniele, figlia di Pino Daniele: “Ora studia a Londra, dove sarei dovuta andare anche io lo scorso anno, al King’s College: però hanno respinto la mia richiesta di ammissione perché non avevo preso voti abbastanza alti. Non sono mai stata bravissima in classe, ma credo nelle Sliding Doors: quando è arrivata la bocciatura dall’Inghilterra, Sky mi ha proposto la conduzione di X Factor Daily, dove sono stata riconfermata quest’anno, inizio il 21 ottobre. Quello che doveva essere un anno sabbatico si è rivelato una scelta definitiva: non andrò all’università e va bene così. Non c’è miglior scuola dell’esperienza”.

La quasi 20enne ha imparato ad accettarsi così com’è

Aurora Ramazzotti è una ragazza serena. Dei compagni di vita dei genitori dice: “Tanti miei amici che vivono situazioni familiari simili alla mia non si trovano con i nuovi partner dei genitori. Marica e Tomaso, invece, sono persone da cui mi sento ispirata. Marica ha davvero salvato mio padre da se stesso, lui aveva bisogno di qualcuno a cui dare amore. E’ di una bellezza devastante, la mattina quando si alza e la sera quando va a dormire. E poi sa un sacco di cose ed è pure un po’ pignola. E’ una figura molto positiva e stabilizzante, nei miei confronti sta sempre due passi indietro come è giusto che sia: non vuole sostituirsi a mia madre. Tomaso è una sorta di fratello maggiore. Di lui ammiro la dedizione al lavoro impressionante e la pazienza con cui prova a spiegarmi invano l’economia, che cos’è il Pil!”.

La tv è il presente, ma c’è un sogno che vuole realizzare in futuro: calcare sul palco con il papà: “L’ho sognato tante volte. Mi piacerebbe con Amore contro, che è nelle mie corde. Amo cantare, ma non so se potrei reggere un palco. E comunque dovrebbe volerlo lui per primo”. Poi conclude: “Sono fortunatissima sotto tantissimi aspetti. E so che potrò essere felice”.
