Qualche giorno fa Samsung ha pubblicato un comunicato ufficiale spiegando che si sarebbe fatta carico dell’operazione di richiamo di tutti i nuovi Galaxy Note7 sinora venduti a livello mondiale (vedere Esplode la batteria del Galaxy Note7: Samsung indaga).
Stando alle prime stime, i costi per la gestione del ritiro e della sostituzione di ciascuna delle batterie, sarebbero tutt’altro che esigui.
Si calcola che, sino a ora, il gigante coreano abbia venduto, complessivamente, circa 2,5 milioni di Note7. Se il ritiro riguardasse tutti i terminali, Samsung potrebbe trovarsi ad affrontare una spesa di 1.000 milioni di dollari.
Per adesso, di tutti i device acquistati dagli utenti finali, una quarantina ha evidenziato l’improvvisa esplosione della batteria. I rischi però sono davvero troppo elevati per ignorare un problema che, potenzialmente, può rivelarsi estremamente pericoloso.
1 miliardo di dollari è circa il 5% dei ricavi stimati per l’anno fiscale in corso. Samsung, però, ha ritenuto agire subito attivandosi per un richiamo globale. La fiducia e la sicurezza della clientela sono troppo importanti per sottovalutare l’importanza di un tempestivo intervento.
Alcuni analisti sono convinti che la decisione del ritiro sia arrivata dal vice presidente di Samsung, Lee Jae Yong.
