Ulefone Power 3, si avvicina il lancio dello smartphone con batteria da 6.080 mAh

La pre-vendita di Ulefone Power 3 si avvicina e per alimentare le fiamme la compagnia ha indetto un “evento di riscaldamento” mettendo sul piatto tre unità dello smartphone da regalare ai propri clienti. Le regole per vincere tre Ulefone Power 3 sono semplici: è sufficiente iscriversi sul sito ufficiale Ulefone con un indirizzo e-mail valido e votare la feature preferita dello smartphone. Oltre allo smartphone gratis si potranno ricevere anche coupon di sconto.

Il cliente può inoltre rispondere ad un breve sondaggio, indicando lo smartphone che si sta attualmente utilizzando o i motivi per cui si intende cambiarlo. Per aumentare le possibilità di vincere lo smartphone, infine, è consigliabile condividere l’attività su Facebook, VK o Twitter.

Tornando al dispositivo, Ulefone Power 3 si caratterizza per la grande batteria da 6.080 mAh che può alimentare il dispositivo per circa 4 giorni con un uso moderato. In dotazione l’acquirente riceverà anche un caricabatterie da 3A compatibile con la ricarica rapida che consente di caricare il dispositivo in circa 120 minuti. La grossa batteria viene inoltre abbinata ad un display da 18:9, con lo smartphone che quindi sposerà la moda del momento degli smarpthone full-screen.

Ulefone Power 3 utilizza il processore octa-core MediaTek MTK6763, abbinato a 6 GB di RAM e 64 GB di memoria interna, mentre sul fronte fotografico troviamo un setup a 4 fotocamere. Le due al posteriore utilizzano sensori da 16 + 5 MP con flash doppio, quelle all’anteriore invece sensori da 13 + 5 MP con possibilità di flash softlight ed effetto bokeh per lo sfondo. Lo smartphone supporta anche il riconoscimento facciale per lo sblocco o il tradizionale sensore d’impronte sul retro.

Lato software troviamo Android 7.1 Nougat preinstallato, ma Ulefone promette che “molto presto” arriverà anche Android 8.1 Oreo. L’evento di lancio per vincere 3 Ulefone Power 3 avrà termine il 15 dicembre, e se siete interessati vi consigliamo di visitare il sito ufficiale a questo indirizzo.

AMD Makes a Surprise Appearance: Ryzen Mobile with Qualcomm LTE

One of the surprises at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit was the presence of AMD. Out of no-where, Kevin Lensing, CVP and GM of the Client Business Unit at AMD, was invited onto the stage to announce that AMD and Qualcomm were in a connectivity partnership.

Recently AMD announced it was bringing its new high-performance x86 CPU cores and its latest GPU architecture to the notebook space. Within a 15W form factor, the Ryzen 7 2700U packs in four Zen cores along with 10 Vega compute units, to which AMD states that they have the top performing 15W notebook processor on the market. At the launch, three designs were briefly announced from HP, Acer, and Lenovo, from which the HP Envy x360 with the Ryzen 5 2500U is currently available for sale (we’re awaiting our review sample).

What Kevin Lensing was doing on stage at a Qualcomm event was announcing that AMD and Qualcomm have been working together on bringing LTE connectivity to the Ryzen Mobile platform. Normally when a vendor creates a notebook or a smartphone platform, they create a series of reference designs which are sent out to OEMs. These designs are meant to demonstrate how the parts fit together, and what sort of technologies can be implemented (just in case the OEMs don’t realize what can be possible). Kevin explained that in those Ryzen Mobile reference platforms, they included a Qualcomm LTE modem to allow for mobile connectivity on the go.

Equipping a laptop with mobile connectivity is not necessarily new – Intel has been doing it for years with their own modems (such as the XMM7260 and XMM7360), mostly in business end devices or Chromebooks. The fact that AMD is getting in on the action (and even appearing at a Qualcomm event to talk about Ryzen and Ryzen mobile) makes it interesting for sure. Kevin Lensing on stage stated that several OEMs were sufficiently interested in enabling their designs with Qualcomm LTE connectivity. As a result, some of the more interesting Ryzen Mobile designs, either for business or for casual users, might actually have LTE enablement as an option.

The obvious questions are about the extra cost, carrier partnerships (if they’re from OEMs, QC, or from AMD), and then also a nod at what the extra power consumption is. Questions I suspect that might be discussed next month at CES, when everyone involved will be giving new information about the products coming to market.

We had a chance to ask Erin Chappelle GM of the Windows and device group and lead on Windows 10 on Snapdragon about the lack of 64-bit emulation support at launch.

Erin Chapple General Manager, Microsoft As a General Manager in the Windows and Devices Group was the right person to ask why the Windows 10 on Snapdragon is missing the 64-bit emulation application support. She also leads the team delivering the base components of the operating system including the Kernel, Hypervisor, Containers and Storage and was certainly the right person to address this elephant in the room.

64 Bit on ARM in the future

Erin confirmed Fudzilla that the Microsoft was considering the 64-bit emulation support for the future, but it was a time to market and executive decision that prevented 64-bit to be supported at launch. Microsoft will enable 64-bit SDK for developers and this might be the way to optimize the applications going forwarded. Our understanding is that if Adobe comes up with an idea that they want to make a native Photoshop for ARM, Microsoft and its SDK will be there to help.

Erin also said that most X64 applications in the market are the high-end games. This is not what the Snapdragon platform is tailored for. At the Snapdragon technology summit in beautiful Maui Hawaii, it was pointed out by Erin as well as Terry Myerson, executive vice president of the Windows and Devices Group at Microsoft pointed out that always connected PC is a completely new market for Microsoft.

Of course Microsoft sees a potential as the company has invested a lot of time and resources into the Windows on Snapdragon, always connected PC project. The motivation is very straightforward. Microsoft wants to get into the new markets as they do realize that people need the connectivity on modern devices.

HP Envy X2 device comes with 4GB or RAM while Asus NovaGo always connected Snapdragon 835 device comes with up to 8GB memory. While the OS can support 8GB of memory, the applications will be limited to 4GB. This might become an issue in some extreme scenarios but both Qualcomm and Microsoft pointed out that these devices are targeting casual, every day use market, rather than the high end video editing professionals.

You start with a market where you have a good value proposition and in this case this was the consumer market. In the future Microsoft hopes to bring the always connected PC idea to the enterprise who will benefit the security and cloud opportunities of a mobility that 4G and 5G for the enterprise.

Snapdragon 835 devices are it seems first of many to come. There is an opportunity for higher and as well as lower cost devices. This is what Miguel Nunes Director of Product management for Windows on Snapdragon and Erin Chapple left us with.

Insieme con l’annuncio di Android Oreo Go Edition (Android Oreo Go Edition funziona sugli smartphone dotati di 1 GB di RAM o meno), versione del sistema operativo pensata per i dispositivi dotati di una configurazione hardware modesta, Google ha reso disponibile per tutti l’app Files Go.

Files Go è un file manager per Android semplicissimo e pratico da utilizzare che integra anche un pulitore automatico per la rimozione dei file inutili ancora memorizzati sul dispositivo e un meccanismo per la condivisione rapida dei file con i dispositivi vicini senza disporre di una connessione di rete.

Lenovo V730, una nuova via di mezzo tra ThinkPad e IdeaPad?

Lenovo starebbe preparandosi ad annunciare un nuovo portatile, il cui design lo pone a metà strada tra le soluzioni aziendali marchiate ThinkPad e i prodotti destinati all’utenza casalinga della linea IdeaPad. Il Lenovo V730 sembra un connubio tra i due, con una spiccata tendenza alla mobilità grazie a uno schermo da 13 pollici.

In quanto a design, il Lenovo V730 è dotato di uno chassis interamente nero, con l’ormai classica tastiera della linea ThinkPad a cui manca, però, il TrackPoint (presente, invece, sulle workstation portatili ThinkPad P52s). Presente anche un lettore di impronte digitali.

Le specifiche tecniche, riportate da WinFuture, collocano il portatile nella fascia alta del mercato: è infatti configurabile con un processore Intel Core i7-8550U, fino a 16 GB di memoria RAM e un SSD da 512 GB che sfrutta connessione PCIe. La batteria da 46 Wh dovrebbe consentire una lunga operatività.

In quanto a connettività, il dispositivo dovrebbe essere dotato di due porte USB 3.0, una porta USB Type-C (che sfrutterebbe, però, lo standard USB 3.0 e non il più aggiornato USB 3.1), una porta Ethernet, una porta HDMI e un lettore di schede SD.

Non ci sono ancora informazioni relative alla disponibilità sul mercato e al posizionamento del prodotto, ma è lecito attendersi che il Lenovo V730 vada a collocarsi nella fascia medio-alta del settore prosumer.
