Asus has released its second quarter product range including the ZenFone 3 family products, Transformer 3 Pro 2-in-1, and ZenPad 3S 10 tablet.

If you live in Taiwan, you can pick up a 5.2 inch Zenfone 3 for $ 248. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 CPU, 16-megapixel main camera, and a 2,650mAh battery, with 3GB RAM/32GB ROM, while the 5.5-inch ZenFone 3 (ZE552KL) also features a Snapdragon 625 but supports 4GB RAM/64GB ROM with a 3,000mAh battery.

The new family products also include a 6.8-inch ZenFone 3 Ultra, priced at $ 559.39, and will be available starting July 27. The large-size ZenFone 3 Ultra sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 CPU with 4GB RAM/64GB ROM.

The 5.7-inch ZenFone 3 Deluxe has three flavours. The first two models both feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU but with one having a built-in memory capacity of a 4GB RAM/32GB ROM priced at $ 497.20, and another with 6GB RAM/64GB ROM at $ 559.39.

The third model is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 CPU with 6GB RAM/256GB ROM for the magical price of $ 777. Dubbed the ZenFone 3 Deluxe series products they should be available in some designated markets from August.

The ZenPad 3S 10 (Z500M) features a 9.7-inch QXGA IPS display with a built-in Tru2Lift TV chip and 4GB RAM. The new tablet will be available in August, priced at $ 341.73. The 12.6-inch Transformer 3 Pro 2-in-1 will also come with a number of variants, powered by Intel Core i5 or Core i7 CPUs, with prices ranging from $ 1274 to $ 1958.

Asus previously relied on deals with Intel and was a champion of its Atom series. All these are Qualcomm chipsets and are supposed to go like the clappers.

Controls $ 20+ billion revenue

John Byrne an ex Advanced 3D, ATI, AMD executive has just got promoted again at Dell. He is now president of the Dell and EMC global channel. Mike Magee and Fudo have known John Byrne for close to two decades, but now is not the time for kiss and tell.

This is a huge success for Byrne who started at Dell as global vice president of Sales Strategy and Operations in July 2015, then got promoted to be global vice president of Sales Strategy, Operations and Channels at Dell in October.

Now the sales veteran runs the $ 20 billion business unit for the joint venture. Byrne was brought in by Rory Read who is famous for aligning  separate teams and division to function as one. Dell is still in the middle of a $ 62 billion merger with EMC Corp and once this is over, the joint venture will be called Dell Technologies.

Byrne has a great perspective as he lived through AMD’s acquisition of ATI Technologies in 2006 for $ 5.4 billion. This was one tough merger, as it included two different teams of engineering and sales staff, all of which had to be united in one company.

This will be part of what Byrne will be doing for Michael Dell and they both believe that they can grow its channel business  aggressively. 

Dell and EMC will continue to maintain separate deal registration and partner programs for 2016.  Effective February 1, 2017, the company will move to a unified partner and deal registration program.

To protect partner accounts and deals, the company plans for its teams to cross check all existing deal registrations to ensure that they are aligned correcrly.  If multiple partners have the same opportunity, the company will have rules of engagement in place to mitigate any possible adverse impact to partners and customers.

So partners won’t face any changes in 2016 as it works out how to dot and cross the Ts and Cs.

Has Metallized Rubber for Note 7

A company which is famous for its Flexguard Case has one ready for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. This would not be news if Samsung publicly announced this phone, but as you know, it didn’t. 

The PATCHWORKS FlexGuard for Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be available in July and it complies to a military standard drop protection (MIL-STD-810). The case has special corner impact protection with extreme impact absorbers and it sells for sub $ 20.

Since Flexguard is a Korean company, it should be well informed and the case looks nice too. From what we know so far the Note 7 will come with an iris scanner, IP68 water resistance, 5.7 inch QHD SAMOLED screen, 64GB /128GB / 256GB with SD card, 6GB RAM, dual edge screen and of course the pen.  

We also expect that Qualcomm 821 Kyro quad core CPU with 2.4GHz will also find its place in this flagship phone. It has been rumored that Samsung might have an event in New York on  August 2nd, so we will know the final details soon. Samsung always tries to launch its Note phone a few weeks before Apple comes with the latest generation of iPhone, or iPhone 7 in this round.
